Room was very nice with great bathroom. Great location right in the heart of the Sassi area.The only down side was that we were overcharged for food with little acknowledgement from the stuff, which we did not appreciate.

This was a beautiful and thoughtfully restored small 'community' of rooms in a prime walkable location. the staff were very friendly, helpful and genuinely interested in sharing information about Matera. highly recommend. Wonderful visit!

The Pianelle Resort in heart of Sassi Caveoso was so convenient to so many sites and restaurants nearby. The view as well immediately at the doorstep was breathtaking. The room was spacious and luxurious with exposed stone walls and ceilings which provided an immersive experience if staying in the caves of Matera. The breakfast options too were delicious and highlighted the local produce and cuisine. We had an amazing 2 nights and would definitely return.

Beautiful hotel, friendly helpful staff. Delicious strong cocktails on the roof top terrace at sunset! The breakfast was tasty but could do with more frequent replenishing the buffet options. Definitely worth taking up the parking and transfer option given the steep hills and cobbled streets that are very atmospheric but take a bit of puff to navigate!

The Pianelle Resort is beautiful and is in a great location in Matera, with many restaurants and attractions easily walkable from there. The rooms are spacious, beautiful and very unique. Shuttle service from a parking garage is easy, so visitors should not be concerned about not being able to park at the resort. The front office staff was great and their recommendations of restaurants and tours were spot-on. The morning breakfast was excellent with plenty of delicious options. We highly recommend.

As everyone has said previously on this site, the staff really make this hotel. They are very helpful and friendly; nothing is too much bother for them. They helped to find us when we got lost in the town on arrival, they arranged a taxi to come and get us off the hill opposite (thankfully there is a car park at the top as there was no way I was making it back on foot!). Just lovely people. The room was also fab. It had everything. The bathroom mirror was heated, which was welcome in the October cold and rain. Breakfast was perfectly adequate. Location was great too. Highly recommend.

Best hotel experience ever!

We LOVED our stay here. The hotel was beautiful and the staff were amazing. The room was extremely comfortable and spacious, and the shower...no words! We enjoyed the bar and the breakfast was really great. The location was also excellent, I will defintely go back and recommend it to friends!
