A small, pleasant hotel a few blocks from the central plaza. Quiet location. Decent and sufficient breakfast. Very nice staff. Rooms are smallish, but more than adequate. We had a pleasant stay here and would go back the next time we're in Granada.
This is a clean quality operation that is a condo hotel combination as you would find in the states. We booked the Delux room which has a window facing the walkway and is about 13 x 19 feet + bathroom. It has a Queen bed. Probably because we had stayed at a standard room in Los Patios and a delux King in Miss Magrits within the earlier two weeks for about the same cost we were disappointed in the comparison. we were upgraded to be able to use the living room which they did not need to do and was appreciated. The taxi to the airport was 20% more if arranged here, so we asked Los Patios taxi to take us from here'.
We enjoyed our three days in amazing Colonial Grenada. The town is a one of a kind reminder of the Spanish occupation and influence in Nicaragua. The hotel was a lovely respite from the busy market, town square and bustling nightlife. Great staff, delicious breakfast and amazing cable tv ( we have been traveling for over a year, so our first cable tv). Room service and cleaning service was excellent. Our one BR apt was very large with kitchen, dining and living room. You will experience the ambiance of Grenada at Hotel Xelteva.
Melissa went out of her way for us. She and her amazing staff obtained vigoron, vaho and nacatamal dishes for us to experience true Nicaraguan cuisine. I have never experienced that kind of personalized service at any hotel I have ever stayed at. I we be back!!!
This place is awesome. Comfortable, great location, excellent service, amazing pool (a pleasure after exploring the town). The ONLY drawback was the dog barking throughout the night behind our unit (#202). This went on most of the night and made it difficult to sleep. The rooster crowing at 5am in the morning (for me) is a more natural sound and not as bothersome - but the dog barking was difficult to handle. Would suggest ear plugs.
Beautiful accommodations with friendly staff, so eager to help. It was a quick overnight stay unfortunately and wish we could have stayed longer. Owner has interesting story with a friendly warm and welcoming vibe.
Birds and rooster are your natural wake up call and if we are ever back in Granada this is the for sure place to stay.
This is a fairly new place and very well maintained, spotlessly clean with a wonderful staff.
Overnight security guard and room safes promoting a very safe and secure stay.
Great breakfast served by the pool or in the garden area.
Less than a 10 minute walk from the town center.
Being in the city, we experienced noise at night .... cars, music, dogs barking and roosters in the morning.
Because of the holidays, we also heard endless fireworks although xmas eve at midnight was the big occasion.
Masaya and Mombacho volcanoes are fairly close and easy to visit.
Apoyo Lagoon is also close and a great place to spend the day swimming, kayaking and relaxing as a day guest at one of hotels.
It was a great stay. They kept us organized and helped with everything including helping me get to the hospital for an emergency rabies vaccine because I felt I needed it.
They helped in every possible way.
They up charge a little bit than what you could get on your own, but in USD it’s not a problem.
They were very helpful and I couldn’t be more grateful.
While a hot 10+ minute walk to the square it is a good value and a very nice small hotel. I was not expecting this place to actually look like the photos, but it did. The "room" was fine but what surprised us was it had a kitchen, dining area and living room.
The staff was amazing, very attentive and eager to please.
Breakfast was limited but delicious. Security was terrific but by the looks of the neighborhood was safe and probably more for our peace of mind. We always felt safe on the street. Pool actually has a deep end and while it is relatively small it was pleasant.
If you need internet, the code will log you into the strongest signal so keep it handy.
The ONLY two complaint is the hot water. You have to turn on a lot of breakers so that night I thought it just had not warmed up yet. In the morning, I took a very cool shower. That afternoon I discovered the Hot was on the right not left handle. Hahaha. But it still was barely warm.
Overall for what you usually get in an Central American Hotel the experience and room was terrific.
We will back to Granada, it is a beautiful city and there is enough to do for days. We will stay at the Xalteva again. :-)

The ONLY two complaint I would voice is 1. the speed of the internet was terrible! 2. The hot water. You have to turn on a lot of breakers so that night I thought it just had not warmed up yet. The staff at Hotel Xalteva was excellent. They did a great job helping book tours and making recommendations of restaurants. We had breakfast included with our room rate and it was well worth it. There are two options, eggs with gallo pinto or yogurt with granola, both included fruit and various breads. It was filling and delicious. On the day we had to leave early for the airport, they prepared a to-go breakfast for us. The hotel is waking distance to Park Central and to any of the churches or restaurants in town, but in a quiet neighborhood. We were very happy with the accommodations and will definitely stay there again if we make it back to Granada. I would recommend getting a car if you plan to visit Masaya, Laguna, or Mombocho. The roads are in very good condition and it will allow you the luxury of coming and going when you want, but if you drive at night, be careful of cyclists and motorbikes without tail lights.
This lovely hotel always has an English speaker available, and all the staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. The outdoor space is a like an oasis in the heart of bustling Granada, with a beautiful pool area and garden. The breakfast was nice and the coffee excellent. Parking is on the property, which is rare here. And it is very secure. We would definitely come back.
I think that this is the only hotel that we have ever given a perfect score to. The facilities were just great large nicely appointed. Location very goodas only a short walk from everything. The staff all friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast to start the day. Would recommend this as a location for anyone exploring Granada and the area.
We came for relaxation and that was just what we found at Hotel Xalteva. The property has a spa-like feel and the staff are attentive and very personable. The morning staff greeted us by name when we came for breakfast each morning. The breakfast we chose was cooked fresh and included fresh fruit, eggs, homemade bread, and Gallo pinto- a local rice and beans. There were other options for those who prefer yogurt and granola.
The front desk staff provided recommendations for local restaurants and even gave us discount coupons for some of them. They also gave us a five-day pass to a great local gym, which we actually used and enjoyed.
Finally, I am in graduate school and needed Internet. The wireless connection was good and reliable. Overall, it was a great experience.

Disliked: Staff & service, room comfort
Loud & uncomfortable
This was our worst experience in Granada so far. The rooms were really noisy and smelled of mold. The beds were uncomfortable making it difficult to sleep at night. We booked the room with breakfast included per our reservation with hotel.com but the hotel would not honor it, even after we presented the booking confirmation to them. We would definitely not recommend. It is geared to long terms resident stays and not suitable for short term stays.
Great hotel clean and comfortable with friendly staff. The pool is definitely needed at a day in the Nicaraguan heat. About a 20 minute walk from the main drag of restaurants etc. , in a quiet friendly street.
I felt at home with everyone. Really enjoyed my short stay.

A nice hotel but felt far away from central square where so many beautiful hotels are located. While only a 10-12 minute walk from the central square, the last 4-5 blocks are in a residential area and seemed very desolate walking back to the hotel (esp. when the sun sets at 5.30pm) after dinner each night. If my stay had been refundable, I would have moved after the first night to one of the nicer hotels right off the main square.
