I had a short stay at Fodele Beach and had a lovely time, the staff contacted me before I arrived to check me in and arranged a convenient checkout and transport back to the airport, I was very impressed and will book this hotel again.

The hotel was i a very nice location and very safe. The reception staff were very welcoming and explained us everything. The different restaurants were great and also the main buffet area which we actually liked better. The sea is next to the hotel and the view was great. The lounge next to the mainpool were very spacious and invited you to relax. You can store your luggage on the day of departure and also refresh yourself before going.

The resort was really nice. Great food and amazing staff! However, though it was an all-inclusive resort, it did not make any sense at all why you had to purchase drinks after 11 PM, that includes soft drinks and liquor. Not sure why there is a time limit when it's an all-inclusive resort.

Wonderful Hotel with good quality food, proefessional and motivated staff with a smile. Had a great room that was spacious and quiet. All inclusive at its best with high quality drinks (real aperol!, and not a cheap alternative)

Lovely setting, right on the beach. Staff very helpful and friendly, food very good for buffet and three al a Carte restaurant meals included. Room was a good size and separate area for teenage kids ideal. Only half hour drive from Heraklion airport and parking free at hotel. We rented a car as late flight and wanted to get to hotel ASAP. Car rental cheaper than private transfer and easy drive. Paid for late check out as return flight not till after 11pm and was well worth it.

We went to Fodele for my 50th birthday and it was wonderful! The seafront rooms were gorgeous, the grounds all look very modern, and the views were stunning. I love waterslides and they were so much fun! Pools are nice, and the beach is spectacular. Only drawbacks: the à la carte dining. The buffet actually tasted better than the à la carte, particularly the Italian restaurant. And sadly, the Greek restaurant forgot to bring us cake or do anything for my birthday as my husband had arranged. Still, overall, a very nice resort. Would recommend.

Definitely not a 5 star

Parts of the hotel had not yet opened, a restaurant a bar etc The water activities were also not offering the boat ride yet. The rooms basic the television had no apps and not working twice during the stay, definitely not a 5 star. The room surfaces were not cleaned as nothing was ever moved and bedding not changed frequently even when a drink was spilled accidentally it was left dirty for the next night The a la carte Greek restaurant was good and friendly the Italian lacked flavour and customer care The kids club had no security we definitely would not leave children there and the entertainment was poor The majority of the staff were amazing especially Poppi and the men driving the buggies to the rooms Beautiful setting on the beach Would definitely not go back again They should state that all the facilities are not open or being offered

Beautiful hotel, great amenities. Needs a bit of an update here and there…walkways around water park, walk ways on beach. Disappointed there were no ice lollies for kids available in all inclusive. Bedrooms are fresh and modern, food spectacular.

Lovely resort, loads to do

This is a lovely and lively place for a family holiday. Loads to do or equally, easy to chill out and relax. Because there is do much sunbed space around the pools and on the beach it never felt overcrowded even though it is a big hotel. Enthusiastic animation team. Try and get a room close to the Reception area otherwise it's a long walk up!

OK Overall

Crete was the third stop on our trip and we were so excited to check out this amazing waterpark resort overlooking the Aegean Sea. Overall the resort is ok. Things we loved: Staff was very friendly and helpful, Room was big and loved having 2 bathrooms, Waterpark was very fun, Beach was beautiful and the views even better. Loved the daily entertainment, we have never laughed harder than we did at the resort comedy show. Quick taxi ride from the Ferry Port or Airport. Things we wish were different: It is an All-inclusive that is mostly self service, you serve yourself everywhere you go, have to get your own food, your own drinks, no towel, drink or food service at the beach or the pools. Felt like a self service resort which was very odd to us for a 5-star hotel . Food was the same everyday and got very boring very quickly, reservations for the only 2 other restaurants were very inconvenient and difficult to make, plus wines were not included in the restaurant reservations. The enormity of the resort also makes it a bit exhausting to go from one end to the other.

Good stay

We had overall a nice stay at Fodele beach. Positives: water park is great- very well organised and with lots os different slides and pools. It is the highlight of the hotel. Staff is nice and the entertainment team is absolutely fantastic- the best I have ever seen in hotels. Lots of entertainment options and evening shows. Beach is nice - not the most scenic but the water is warm and calm most days. Hotel is close to the airport (30min) which is very convenient. Negatives: hotel is built on a hill so be prepared to spend the whole day going up and down. Some parts of the hotel felt a bit tired and not 5 stars. For example the bathrooms by the pools. The lockers for the bathroom doors are dodgy and I got stuck twice and had to be released by people outside. The food could be better. There are lots of options on the main restaurant but generally food is oily. The wifi in the rooms doesn’t work. We moved rooms on the first night because of that but new room closer to reception was only marginally better. Staff drives around on golf carts which doesn’t feel safe for kids to walk around. Also the golf cart’s brake undid when we were removing our bags from it and almost hit our son. Lucky it was just a scare but it could have been serious.

Not a 5 star hotel; not good value

This definitely isn’t a 5 star hotel, though we a good time and there positives: -The room feels new and is a decent size but balcony is small. Cleaning is OK -The food is great -Alcohol is really good from the main bars in the evening (premium brands, good selection) -The beach and waterpark are great -The staff are friendly BUT, there are many things that we’ve never experienced at a 5 star hotel and that would stop us staying again : - The swimming pool isn’t big enough for the number of guests; lots of people were arguing with reception about it. The sun loungers are crammed in next to each other and you can’t get them most of the time - it resembles a 3 star hotel in Benidorm. (the beach is better and we paid €30 for a cabana most days to have a good spot) -There is no drinks service by the pool or, more importantly, in any of the restaurants. If you want water at breakfast, wine at dinner, or a juice for your child, you have to go and queue for someone to serve you. They do bring water to your table at dinner but the staff are too busy and sometimes miss you. I’ve never known this in a 5, or even 4 star hotel. It's attrotious -There are lots of extra charges such as for ice cream or cocktails on the beach -There is no iron in the room and no way of getting one. Again, We’ve never known this in an hotel, let alone 5 star Overall, our child loves it but we wouldn’t stay again and don’t think it is good value for money (€400 a night)

Man hört den Strassenlärm gut je nach Lage des Zimmers. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich im ganzen Hotel. Sehr viele Leute am Buffet und laut im Hauptrestaurant, wenig Möglichkeiten draussen zu essen. Das italienische und griechische Restaurant sind gemütlich und sehr fein. Das Essen und Getränke allgemein sehr gut. Strand und Poolanlagen sehr schön und ideal für Kinder. Sportangebot wie Yoga, Pilates etc. wenig. Zimmer schön und sauber.

Insgesamt entspricht das Hotel nicht dem Standard eines 5-Sterne-Hauses. Das bereitgestellte Zustellbett war ein veraltetes Klappbett mit sehr dünner Matratze und bot keinerlei Komfort. Auch der Strand war enttäuschend: Er liegt in einer Bucht direkt an den Felsen, ist weder exklusiv noch besonders schön, nachmittags voller Algen und zudem für jedermann frei zugänglich. Der Zugang ist unpraktisch gestaltet. Selbst die internen Transportwege wirken wenig professionell, da ein heruntergekommener Wagen eingesetzt wird. Fazit: In dieser Preisklasse gibt es definitiv deutlich bessere Hotels.
