Room was clean and nice mountains view. Hot spring, ONSEN with three different types of bath, made me relax. Warm hospitality was given by hotel staff.
The building feels ancient, but is in excellent condition with modern amenities where you want them. The staff are extremely accommodating and willing to do whatever they can to make your stay the best it can be. It was the ideal ryokan experience.
The kind staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and the onsen cannot be beaten. The private onsen options were affordable and a wonderful experience, too. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. I would give ten stars if I could.

Unfortunately, our stay here fell short of expectations. Our room had a persistent odor reminiscent of dirty diapers, and despite our efforts to mask it with air freshener, the smell lingered throughout our visit. We also encountered numerous beetles in the room, even though we kept the windows closed.
The included dinner was another disappointment, as the meal lacked flavor and was not up to the standard we had hoped for. Additionally, we faced some stress when trying to ship our luggage—the attendant declined to assist us with filling out the shipping form. Since other hotels had helped us with this in the past, we were unsure whether we completed the form correctly, which added unnecessary worry.
On a positive note, the breakfast buffet was excellent, offering a wide variety of options. We also appreciated the private onsen, which was a great alternative for guests with tattoos who are unable to use the shared baths, (book far in advance to make sure you’ll be able to enjoy).
Overall, while there were some enjoyable aspects of our stay, several issues prevented it from being the relaxing experience we had anticipated.
Located in the heart of Ikaho's stone step slope, this beautiful ryokan is perfect for you if your main focus is exploring the historic area and/or Mt. Haruna nearby. The baths are certainly nice enough as well as the bedrooms, and the staff are kind and helpful. The breakfast is amazing too!
A traditional and clean hotel with great service and delicious breakfast and dinner. Highly recommended.

We had a great time. Staff and location are brilliant. Breakfast buffet is really good with large Japanese food and western food section. The SPA is great and clean, but the rooms are very old and outdated, definitely time for an update.
Hotel is a bit dated but the services were excellent. Maybe that's why the traditional standard can be upkeep. Dinner was great too. Onsen is authentic although not hot enough.
We loved the hotel overall.
The area is a bit quiet and not much to see but was a great getaway spot.
Very steep hills with steps. We are old so it was hard to move, but we anticipated this, it’s OK!
