Good value hotel with a reliable bus service to Funchal only 5min walk away which I used on multiple occasions. It’s very good value compared to taxis. The staff were very helpful at all times of the day and the reception always had a friendly face there to help with many questions. I would stay here again.
The hotel was super clean and nice. The breakfast was pretty okay - lots of fruit. Just be aware that the weather up there might be a lot colder than elsewhere.
What a lovely place ! Perfect location for all the hiking we wanted to do! Pool steam bath and sauna were great after 25000 steps! Thank you for the quiet sanctuary !
Friendly, relaxing new hotel. excellent- buffet catering with wide choice of fresh options, grounds will be more impressive by end 2025
Recommend for a final location as well placed for mountain walking and the airport
The staff is really friendly, and the hotel has nice details throughout. The rooms are spacious. You know it is a nice hotel by the standard of the bathroom—it was a great bathroom. The pool is lovely and has a small sauna and Turkish bath section.
Love that it’s tucked away from all the noise and touristy area. No wash cloths and iron had to be returned next morning but overall, it was still a quaint warm and welcoming hotel stay.
Excellent choice for those looking for beautiful walks, views and even animals. Good was great at the hotel, would reccomend the half board option as there isn’t many other options available around the hotel. Great getaway!!

Liked: Staff & service
Disliked: Cleanliness
Property was average, room didn’t feel super clean, there was a used pool towel tucked on a chair when I arrived in the room. Dining options in the area were limited and everything was a drive. Close to airport
We found out that local come here to the mountains and behind the church is a wonderful Christmas celebration from 7am to 8pm food, beverage, music band etc…. True Madeiran experience
A comfortable, clean, modern hotel in a quiet village approx. 25 km from Funchal, ideal as a base to explore rural Madeira. The village is small with facilities such as restaurants and a shop, but you’ll need a car. The car park isn’t large enough for all guests, meaning street parking – plenty of marked spaces adjacent at no charge.
The hotel and room were clean, tidy and modern, with amenities including indoor pool with spa and restaurant/bar. The hotel is committed to ecological practices – some restaurant food comes from its garden. Peacocks sit outside the restaurant at mealtimes. In the grounds we found João the cat’s house, rabbits, and an aviary.
We opted for half board. Good range of buffet food, with dinner offering “show cooking” with a different dish daily. Dinner staff are lovely. However, food didn’t always feel worth the cost. Our first night’s underseasoned food made us question value; the second was delicious, suggesting significant variability.
Breakfast is okay, good breads and warm food. We were disappointed by limited fruit and no bananas – we saw they had bananas in the kitchen, so assume this was to stop diners taking them away, which felt petty and leads to people taking from dinner instead. They don’t do to-go food for early flights, though they directed us to join the restaurant before opening whilst setting up. However, we didn’t feel welcomed; we ate in the dark and were directed to cold food. Having paid for breakfast, this wasn’t ideal.
I didn’t know how to classify my issue so I placed it under staffing. I never received a response to my complaint about second guest fees which were exorbitant — which I was able to verify through the direct booking application (20 euros per day cheaper than what I was charged). I am very disappointed and all I wanted was an equivalent secondary guest premium to what I was able to research on their direct booking application. I sent them screen shot examples of my research and no response as of yet. To be clear, I had no issues with the staff I personally interacted with, as they don’t control pricing practices and my stay was otherwise pleasant.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
While the hotel itself is generally nice, with welcoming staff who always greeted us with smiles, there were several downsides.
Firstly, the hotel's location is both a blessing and a curse. Nestled on a mountain away from the lively atmosphere of Machico, it offers a peaceful retreat. There are no good restaurants or cafes nearby, which makes it difficult if you prefer dining out.
The hotel's promotional images are somewhat misleading- depicting chaise lounges on a grassy lawn, suggesting ample outdoor space for relaxation. In reality, the only outdoor area is a covered terrace with a few rattan sofas and armchairs. During our stay, the terrace doors were only open for one morning.
Breakfast was okay, but the variety was lacking. The breakfast room itself had a peculiar, quiet vibe with soft ambient music playing, which felt more awkward than relaxing.
The gym facilities were quite disappointing. The space is size of a single bedroom, inadequately equipped-consists of a treadmill, a bench, a couple of 3-4kg dumbbells, and a single set of 12 kg weights. Sharing these limited resources with other guests was frustrating. The pool, sauna, and steam room were satisfactory. The daily cleaning process began around 10 am, precisely when many guestswould prefer to use these amenities. The noise from vacuums and cleaners disrupted what should have been a relaxing experience. For those seeking a more engaging and conveniently located accommodation, I recommend looking elsewhere
The area was beautiful, clean and very safe. However, the hotel does not have elevator. I booked for myself and my daughter decided to join me and I was charged additional CAD$491. Other hotels that I booked only charged me very little for the additional person.
