Trip was to attend a memorial for my sister. Reservation not found upon arrival, was told it was canceled, put us in a cabin for $80 more/nt; No heat in cabin, had to use space heaters. No detailed instructions on Wi-Fi and lots of trips back to the front desk by car. Was given the wrong password for that cabin after calls to the manager. Finally got half the correct password, and guessed at the rest. No info on how to get hot water. Husband figured it out by a switch on a wall. I’m disputing the charge, as we had made reservations for motel room #12 facing the lake for $106, and ended up paying $185 for a dinky cabin. Not going back and will not recommend to others.

There's a beautiful common area with a pool table, bumper pool, a fireplace and lots of books and puzzles. Snacks for purchase in the lobby. Real old-fashioned cabin feel. Stayed in a motel room with lovely cabin interior, with deck looking out to the lake, kitchenette and comfortable beds. Very friendly staff. And at a very affordable price for the north shore.

Great location, nice staff, amenities were mostly fine. Only two real complaints, one is that the beds were as comfortable as sleeping on the floor and the pillows sucked. The other thing is that the temperature control did NOT work. We stayed in the winter so this may not be a problem in the summer. We had to shut the heat off for it to cool off and become a bearable temp in the room overnight as it was so hot that we could not sleep. Then of course it would become freezing after a few hours and it would go on like that the entire time we were there. It didn't bother us but you can also hear the neighbors through the walls if they're talking even one touch over regular speaking level and the door bangs super loud every time from the springs.

We had an awesome time during our stay at Solbakken. Lovely grounds, staff is fantastic and a beautiful view of the lake. Our only issue was our furnace didn’t work, but they brought us a space heater the minute they were notified it wasn’t working. Thanks for a great stay! We will be back.

I was charged more than $250 over what I was quoted when I made the reservation by phone. Despite multiple attempts to communicate about this, clarify the charges, and/or have the extra money refunded, my calls and emails were not returned by resort staff.
