Closed on arrival

Despite clearly having indicated at the time of booking that we would arrive during the night, and despite having confirmed this by phone a few weeks before, the guesthouse was closed up when we arrived and no one picked up the phone. After some time the watchman, who had been drinking with his friends outside the hotel, opened the gate and let us in - but he knew nothing about our booking. We were shown a few rooms with used sheets, and finally crashed out in a twin room that seemed reasonably clean - but without towels, toilet paper etc (we had booked two single rooms). When the owner arrive in the morning, she said that she did not really want to deal with Expedia as they paid in arrays, and had changed to Airbnb. So clearly this guesthouse is not interested in honoring reservations via Expedia and I strongly recommend avoiding it.

I reserved this guest house for my little brother's first night in Lusaka. He was arriving late unexpectedly (was supposed to be 10PM, but was actually midnight). I tried calling and messaging the guest house with their contact phone, but no one picked up and there was no way to leave a message. When my brother arrived there was no one at the gate and the place was dark and he couldn't get in. So he had to go elsewhere. I know it was non-refundable, but he tried to sleep there and couldn't. And there was no way to contact anyone about the change in arrival time.

Non-existing guest house

The guest house did not exist. I have wasted my money and Hotels.com couldn't care less. Their so-called "support" is a joke.
