Our room smelled of cigarette smoke, the wash basin was cracked, the furniture was chipped, and the decor very tired the several areas of the property needed decorating and maintenance especially the ceiling in the lounge which was very stained with a water leakage. The breakfast was very good and staff were very helpful.

We had a wonderful one-night stay here and I wish we could have stayed longer. Rooms were fantastic - staff couldn't do enough for us - food was sensational, even in the bistro (so I can't imagine what the restaurant food was like!) I can thoroughly recommended this hotel. Will definitely come back next time I visit the area.

Beautiful hotel in a pretty part of the world
Good quiet location, beautiful hotel. Lovely cooked free breakfast in the morning. Only issue was when we checked in our room wasn’t ready at 3:00 which was disappointing. We sat downstairs and had a drink then it was ready later.

Noisy room
We were put in a room sbove the kichen whicj was very noisy! They were full do we couldnt move. The manager discounted the price when I complained. The bed and hotel itself were great and they were very dog friendly but £30 was rather expensive for the dog valetting. Breakfast was very good and the waitress extremely friendly.

Excellent stay and Hotel, very few niggles
We have stayed at the Hotel previously. The bed was excellent, the bedding high quality, toiletries excellent, bath and shower so all good. Food in the restaurant was very good rather than superb as previously, Breakfast again very good rather than superb but both well above that normally expected of a 3 star Hotel. The irritants, couldnt book in until 3pm, with a very long journey from France that was annoying, would have been happy to pay more,we arrived at 1.15pm. The service charge of £12.60 was unexpected, didnt see that coming. Overall it is beginning to look a little tired, lovely crack and mould patch in the bathroom, outside needs painting and the flooring showing a few signs of wear. Overall I would rate as excellent+ rather than superb as previously. Staff good and helpful especially the bar and restaurant staff who were superb Good value and would visit again but would suggest a little time spent sprucing the Hotel up, saying that probably still the best in the area.

Stayed here for business on a number of occasions. Always receive a Friendly warm welcome. Bedrooms are lovely, very comfortable, had number 7 on a couple of occasions which has a fabulous bath in the room so I was able to enjoy a relaxing soak while watching television! Just what I needed after a days work. Not used the spa yet but enjoyed the lovely Elemis products in the bathroom. Ate in the bistro, food was lovely, not overfacing. Good choice of breakfast in the morning too.

Everything suited us fine. Lovely welcome from the Receptionist. Good lighting in the room which is rare these days. Loved the wet room in the bathroom. Such a good idea to have two restaurants - we ate in the Bistro as were tired from travelling and would use the other restaurant if we were celebrating. Breakfast was very good indeed. Only thing I would like to have seen is pictures of the boys back in the 40s when it was a boys school!

Showcasing the best of Shropshire
I don't normally go for the top end a la carte menus but this was the exception. Exquisite is the only description. Likewise the full English breakfast showcased the very best products of Shropshire. My only regret is that I forgot to leave a tip at the end of my stay, plus Hotels.com had obtained a discounted price so I almost feel guilty!

Good Choice
Decided on a short 4 night break to South Shropshire and following internet research decided on the Fishmore Hotel. A very enjoyable stay and our room was upgraded so that was a nice bonus. The hotel staff are very professional. The hotel is located in a rural setting despite it only being around a mile from the centre of Ludlow. We would recommend a stay to family and friends.

More than 3 star
The bedroom was quite big and the bed was a king size extremely comfortable bed.dont know whether we were suppose to as for biscuits but there were none.I would say it was more than a 3star.The breakfast was different you could have the English but there were other options as well Good qualitythe down side was it was out of town and walking back was up hill and the toilet was a bit lower than expected

Excellent value for money
Lovely hotel with good parking facilities. Didn't eat in the restaurant but it looked very nice and seemed popular. Very good breakfast. Lots of hot water and a lovely deep bath. Easy walk into Ludlow to the castle and lots of pubs, cafes etc. Fresh milk in the mini bar and complimentary bottle of still water very much appreciated, more hotels should start doing this.

OK hotel...but...
For me, the major problem was the so called two restaurants. The choice is between the 'fine dining' experience at a fixed price of £60.50 pp for three courses - not including wine. When I explained that I don't usually eat three courses could I just have a main course, she said yes but she needed a calculator to tell me how much a main course would be.....because there are no prices per item on the menu. In addition there is absolutely no description of how the item is prepared. So, in my case I resorted to the so called 'Bistro' where there is a limited choice of items which are priced individualy. The Bistro dining room however is so austere it reminded me of the Titanic where steerage passengers peeked through the metal grills at the first class passengers dining in splendour. The meal I had made me laugh. A chicken breast (more like a sparrow) a spoonful of mashed carrot. A table spoon of diced savoy cabbage with bacon, a piece of potato about the size of my thumbnail, a red wine reduction and a couple of blobs of ...well I'm not quite sure what. Now for breakfast one can sit in first class. The full English breakfast is somewhat lacking - one of each. The menu shows this would cost you £16.50....luckily I had breakfast included in my room rate. So my advice is to go in to town for evening dinner - parking is free after 6pm and there are some great restaurants in town - Pizza 10 is highly recommended as is the Indian restaurant. Other than that hotel is well....ok...

It's only a spa hotel for those who book direct
If you book through Expedia the spa facilities are not included. Neither the hotels website nor Expedia makes this clear. The same is the case with dogs which, although are 'welcome' there's also a surcharge. My recommendation is to book directly with the hotel rather than a third party website. The spa facilities are new, but a tad on the small side, so being in the sauna and steam room will fit 2 people at a time max. The location is about a mile from the centre of Ludlow, is very beautiful and surrounded by fields, so it is a 20 - 30 minute walk into Ludlow. If you need a taxi, you will need to book in advance as they are few and far between. Excellent breakfast.

Hidden Gem Country Retreat
Comfortable and peaceful stay with the added bonus of an excellent chef and spa facilities. We loved the hotel. It was quiet and our room was good with the luxury of a large bed and a fridge with local produce, which was a nice touch.The shower room was a little cramped but was adequate for our needs. Would highly recommend, we felt extremely well cared for during our two night stay, and the A la Carte menu was so tasty!

Smaller room size than what advertised. Other booking sites show more of a true size however would stay again. Am a light sleeper and slept well with no noise disturbance. Lovely location with an easy 20 min walk into Ludlow centre. Staff great and happy to accom.

Beautiful countryside spa hotel
A short car journey from the centre of Ludlow this spa hotel fulfilled our expectations and was a good choice for a weekend break. The food was excellent. We ate in the main dining room the first night and enjoyed the fine dining experience. We ate in the Bistro the second night and although the food was good, the service was extremely slow. We took advantage of the spa facilities and enjpyed the hot tub overlooking the surrounding fields. A great break.

Amazing wow factor
Amazing hotel. From super helpful staff to excellent food. A little of the beaten track but totally worth it. Ideal for a spa getaway. Everything about FH is superb. My room was exceptional and I loved the elemis toiletries and small bottle of fresh milk that compliments the coffee machine. Great idea of having a mini bar in the room and the prices were very reasonable. Amazing hotel.
