"I booked a stay through Expedia at Embassy Suites by Hilton Syracuse Destiny USA and unfortunately experienced multiple significant issues during the stay.
Our first room had no functioning electrical outlets and the in-room phone did not work. After several unanswered attempts to contact the front desk from my personal phone, we were moved to another room. The second room also had several problems including a broken refrigerator, a broken kitchenette drain, a non-working television, and again a non-functioning room phone.
Additionally, only one of the hotel’s three elevators was operational during the stay, and there was a concerning incident involving unsupervised children engaging in unsafe behavior in the pool area.
These issues were acknowledged by the hotel, but no refund was offered. When I contacted Expedia customer service for assistance, I expected some level of advocacy or support given the documented problems with the property.
Unfortunately, the representatives I spoke with were not able to provide meaningful assistance and ultimately denied my request for a refund.
I understand that hotels operate independently, but part of the value of booking through a platform like Expedia is the expectation that customer service will help resolve situations when accommodations clearly fail to meet basic standards.
I hope Expedia reviews situations like this more carefully in the future and provides stronger support to customers when legitimate concerns arise."
