I found it deeply disturbing that some guests were permitted to sit in the foyer, lounge and breakfast room in their pyjamas and moreover, to discover that this practice is acceptable with Mercure St Helens, Merseyside. All of which made our stay an uncomfortable one.

I'm from St helens and every time I go to St Helens I stay at the mecure - every time I arrive at the hotel - the staff at the hotel always give me a lovely welcome back home.- it's always nice to be recognised and acknowledged by the staff - the last time I stayed at the mecure the girl on the desk who checked me in said - I don't need to tell you were anything in the hotel is - because you stay so often that practically live here!!! Which I find really humerous. Victoria who works in the hotel restaurant is amazing at her job she's always so friendly and welcoming - I don't think she gets enough praise for the amazing job that she does she works really hard.

First time staying here and it was excellent for the price point, especially with free parking. Rooms plenty big enough, clean, if a little dated but that is minor point only, food in the evening was good and reasonably priced, breakfast was also good. Would give this another look and stay again if on business in that area.
