Over priced flop house

Mislead over breakfast time, dinning room locked, no offer to rectify, went out hungry, this place is an embarrassment , stay away.

Friendly place!

Nick and the staff are as friendly as a scouser can be! And that says a lot. This was a last-minute booking so the ensuite rooms where not avaliable, but it worked out fine anyway. Just 10-15 min drive to central Liverpool.

Terrible experience, taxi driver did not know where the place was! When I arrived and showed my driving licence, he told me it was not me, it was a male person, even if I were transgenic, it was an insult! And if I were not happy with his comments I could leave without him paying my money back.

Easter weekend stay

We had a great time, couldn’t fault the hospitality shown by Nick.We stayed in the family room plenty of space,and a lovely cooked breakfast in the morning

Quick visit

Comfortable bed and lovely friendly staff but unfortunately not great with cleanliness with in room . The staff made the stay as very helpful and polite . Bus stop right outside and took about 20 mins to get into Liverpool city centre , and ten mins into Birkenhead to get ferry across mercy if you want . A lovely weatherspoons just 10 min walk from Guest house which does great food .

Perfectly adequate

The B and B was perfectly adequate for a night’s stay and it was easy to travel into Liverpool to see the sights. We walked to the station from the guesthouse and were saddened by the litter in the local area. It would have been nice to have more continental breakfast options but the host could not have been friendlier.

Family visit to Liverpool

We struggled to find it as we went by the numbers (704) but if we had followed the google map we would of been ok. Close to the tunnels, close to food and shops. A warm welcome , sizeable rooms and good breakfast. Recommended.

Great Guest House.

The guest house was excellent value for money, though the toilet was difficult to flush, and some of the TV channels were not tuned in properly. However, overall we enjoyed the stay and will quite gladly stay there again.

A welcoming, friendly place.

I was visiting Birkenhead, to meet my Son, and found The Black Lions Guest House. I was lucky to have discovered it. The hotel is situated on the New Chester Road, in Rock Ferry. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I arrived very early. I was dreading having to ask if my room was ready at 10.30 a.m, but Nick, the owner, was absolutely fine with the situation, and was so accommodating (The website mentions 2 p.m. as the earliest booking in time, but if you e-mail Nick beforehand, he will do his best to fit you in) The room was en-suite and was clean and well provisioned with the basic requirements. Nick was only too glad to furnish me with the local travel options as well as directing me to a local pub who were known for excellent pub meals. Breakfast was beyond reproach, and a full English with Coffee was wolfed down. (Again, Nick was always ready to fulfil any reasonable request. At one point,I ran out of milk, tea and sugar, a quick word with Nick and I was replenished. :-) ) Again, due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to leave in the early evening of my second day there, but will certainly be re-visiting in the near future.

Lovely guesthouse

They were very friendly and helpful, even though we arrived late for our check in. The room was comfortable for a night's stay and breakfast was lovely. We had an issue with our car and they were kind enough to go out of their way to try help us fix it! Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again

Friendly Hotel

Hotel owner provided a very warm welcome and was also very amenable during our stay. Very good value .

This is a nice little guest house. The house is a bit out of town and the area itself is nothing special but the guest house works well and Nick, the owner, is very friendly and welcoming.
