Memorable Stay in a Cosy Historic Setting

The hotel is a renovated historic building nicely located next to the cathedral and the castle. Indeed the breakfast chamber offers a good view of the cathedral towers. The rooms are neat and clean. The hotel staff are very friendly. Besides other things, they offered to assist me in taking a few good photos to preserve the exceptional experience for being there. It was a highly memorable stay, despite having had some difficulties in finding the hotel entrance owing to lack of signage. I would surely stay there again when I visit Lincoln or its environs in future.

Good location, but room too small

Staff were good, we were in the chapel , I though we would be in a beamed, raked ceiling room, but it was a very small room on the lower level of the chapel. So make sure you know what room you have before.

The Old Palace is a unique place to stay. Very enjoyable. More like an old church. Staff very helpful and delicious breakfast included. Close to cathedral and sights.

Great position if you can find it!

Dry good position when we finally found it. Many others have had the same problem . There should be a detailed map with specific instructions . Breakfast was good. The bathroom had been renovated but it was a little da heroes as you had to step up I to. Slippery shower with no handrail.

Great facility in several old buildings a 2 minute walk to the cathedral. It was a tastefully outfitted facility with great comfort in perfectly outfitted room and had a great breakfast buffet too. Only slight inconvenience is that it is necessary with some of the rooms to walk outside between buildings for the breakfast buffet and reception desk. Luckily the weather was picture perfect when I was there.

Close to the Cathedral and Castle

Comfortable room but the toilet was difficult to flush. Delicious breakfast with plenty of choice and a fabulous view from the dining room. I think it should be made clearer though that breakfast is in a different building to where the hotel rooms are. I must commend the staff for their flexibility. We required breakfast at 7.30am on a Sunday morning which is half an hour earlier than they normally serve it. However they contacted the chef for us and arranged for him to come in early.

I cannot imagine a better place for character

This building is wonderful. It its an architectural masterpiece and the fact that you can stay here at such a reasonable room rate makes this a no-brainer. I was not expecting the fixtures and fittings to be of such high quality - but they are. I even had real feather pillows, and presumably duvet too, which you don't find often. The breakfast was excellent and served in a dining room with two opposing panoramic windows - one overlooking the cathedral so close it feels like you can reach out and touch it, and the other viewing the whole of Lincoln below. This is quite simply a hidden gem of a hotel!

Historic but hostile

The atmosphere of the hotel was excellent but the attic rooms were overpriced and claustrophobic with unbearable heat, tiny windows and no extractor fan in the bathroom. A fan was some help but not a complete answer. Clergy encountered by chance were cold and unwelcoming and largely ignored our greetings.

Historic Site, Nicely Converted to Hotel

This small stone castle used to be the residence of the Bishop of Lincoln; it is still his office. It is a beautiful place, and in a perfect location. Staff was very pleasant; the breakfast was great!

Great location and stellar cooked breakfast

A great location in the heart of the historic area adjacent to the Cathedral and the Bishop's Palace and within walking distance of the Castle, The Steep Hill with its shops, cafes and restaurants, the Usher Art Gallery and The Collective museum. The freshly-cooked breakfast was stellar! Difficult to find it by car, even on google maps and there is a one way system round the cathedral so when we missed it, we had to go round again.

Ideally placed.

Beautiful surroundings, easily accessible and with some quality and choice of restaurants nearby at the top of the hill. Close to the castle and cathedral for sight seeing and only a ten minute walk into the town centre. Friendly staff, very helpful and v reasonable on price. Would definitely stay there again.

The Palace was superb

We stayed in the suite which was lovely, stunning bathroom, lovely room, in separate building and there were steps to get to it.

Great location, beautiful building, nice staff.

Beautiful location, lovely building. Even though we didn't get the room that was illustrated on the booking confirmation (which was a little disappointing), the room we had was lovely and clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice, some delays with a large group being there but when it arrived it was very nice. Service was very polite and you could tell they felt bad that things were running behind.

Perfect for Lincoln Cathedral Quarter!

Overnight stay in a striking building that had once been a church. Chosen for its excellent location at the top of Steep Hill, the Old Palace certainly lived up to my expectations. Everything was about five minutes away at the most including the cathedral, castle, museums and art galleries.
