Great location in the heart of Lima. Plenty of tourist locations close by. Also very hip area at night with many bars and night clubs close to hotel

Lovely common areas and interesting to experience a piece of Peruvian history (lots of famous people have stayed there). Room was large and clean, but needed a major renovation. Staff friendly and helpful. Free drink tickets and a piece of birthday cake for my son. Ten minute walk to main plaza. 15 minutes to monastery and catacombs. Made-to-order breakfast had minimal options and mediocre food. Elevator broke down, so had to carry our heavy suitcases down three flights of stairs.

Staff was exceptional!!!! Unfortunately the owner of the previously stunning property hasn’t made any improvements to make the hotel comfortable as you would expect from any basic hotel in the USA or any modern country. It lacks many basics like consistent hot water, air conditioning- did not work, room had a very loud plug in oscillating fan which drowned out any conversation you may have. Wood floors so rough I got splinters in my feet two different times even while wearing Socks. Bottom line, if you only stay here to sleep and for the location it may work for you. But if you get uncomfortable in humid and warm stagnant environments then maybe choose something newer and fresh

Grand with excellent staff but run down
Beautiful grand old hotel but a bit run down. My suite was above the restaurant, and loud music blared until late into the night, making it difficult to sleep. Wonderful restaurant and helpful staff.
The historical significance which is being maintained. Our bathroom does need upgrading to the high standard expected from the rest of the hotel. Breakfast was excellent. Staff very helpful with advice.
Amazing historical hotel, it was so fun to stay here! The restaurant and bar in the hotel were convenient and the location in the square couldn’t have been better.
Very beautiful hotel, dated but it’s part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
No air conditioning, breakfast is very basic but you just cannot beat the location. Best location in Lima for food, night life and attractions

Its central location and historical significance to Peru was nice. As such itd be wonderful to see the rooms modernized for comfort. It was just too cold and bed very uncomfortable. The staff was very hospitable. For our group of 7, the dining at their restaurant was the highlight. Also, we noticed their bar with its upstairs balcony was a popular destination for locals.
It is a historical building and is huge. Location was great for exploring. Breakfast was good.

If you like beauty and history and don’t mind a little graceful aging, this is the place to stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms are large and clean, breakfast is good, the location is excellent in the Historic City Center.
This hotel is full of history! Many celebrities have stayed here, and the antique decor makes you feel like you’ve traveled back in time. The food was delicious, and they even prepared a to-go breakfast for us when we left at 4 AM—it was amazing! If you want to experience the charm of old Peru, this is the perfect place to stay.

The location is perfect. The hotel is just a bit run down but has tremendous character. Tourists come in to take photos of the lobby! The rooms lack proper air conditioning but have fans. Would recommend it!

We stayed for 3 nights.
Pros: Great location, good breakfast, and friendly staff.
Cons: Very noisy throughout the day and night. Our room faced Plaza San Martín, which offered an excellent view, but the street is crowded all night, and loud music from a nearby nightclub played until 4–5 a.m. both nights. Also, while the hotel is clean and in good condition, keep in mind that it’s over 100 years o, so don’t expect modern amenities.
Hotel Gran Boliver sits majestically adjacent to San Martin Plaza in the centro historic zone of Lima, walking distance to shops, museums and galleries. This renovated property features gorgeous rooms, immaculate linens, spacious suites with living & dining rooms with small refrigerator. Breakfast is a fixed menu omlette with ham and cheese plus fresh squeezed juice & warm croissants. Dinner menu in the formal dining room boasts a variety, well priced. Front desk & staff provide exceptional service.
I liked the retro nature of the facility - high ceilings and spacious rooms, not your ordinary tourist type of hotel - the hallways were long and empty which gave off a haunted house vibe - the food and bar drinks were exceptional - there was plenty to see within walking distance - an experience worth remembering
