nice comfy hotel

nice cozy hotel. very friend and helpful owner. bed come with heated mattress which is excellent for us who are not very use to the cold weather. clean towel, clean bed. situated inside ancient city. so if check in after 7pm, no need to pay for entrance fees to ancient city.

Cozy Guesthouse in the Heart of Lijiang Old Town

My wife and I were backpacking in Lijiang, and we chose to stay 2 nights right in the heart of the old town. This particular lodging is run by a knowledgeable and passionate Mr Wang, who himself has traveled extensively in the Province of Yunnan. He is nice, friendly and approachable. He let us use the laundry facilities for free, and took care of excess baggage in between our sojourn to the nearby Lugu Lake. Extremely helpful in recommending and organizing day trips, such as the excursion to the Jade Dragon Mountain, which we thoroughly enjoyed and found it really fuss-free and value for money. The duplex we stayed in is homely and charming. Definitely worthy coming back.

Great small hotel

Great, small, and cheap family owned hotel in the center of where you want to be. As in the rest of the old town: the walls are paper thin - with no isolation, but a think blanket makes up for it. Street noises are a different and more depressing story thought. The place it self is really cozy, staff are helpful and english speaking, and you'll find everything you need and more of the bath articles. They change your towels, wash your close (free of charge) and take out the trash, but they will not make your bad! You get a really good value for money here, and your bags will lay safe while you out in the mountains. I would definitely stay here again =) Watch out for the taxi drivers in Lijiang thought, they will try to charge you 4-5 times the price, the law is on your side, just pay what the taximeter shows!

Old family home in old city

Comfortable basic room in old style home in old city. Big bed, good bathroom but dim lights. Chinese breakfast fine. What stood out was how helpful the manager was. She got me taxis, carried my bags and smiled often despite the cold weather and lots of rain. If you go to Lijiang be prepared for multitude of shops and cafรฉs. I'm sure at one time the old city was charming. Unfortunately, although pretty, it is 'staged' with flowers and potted plants. Not sure the UNESCO designation had this in mind. Good market off the beaten path though. Airport good and only half hour away.

A nice little hotel in the centre of the old town

Taxi pick up as arranged by the hotel from the train station eased arrival, very good. This small hotel offered a lot of freebies, all Chinese for Chinese guests, good to see but not suited for we westerners. Our room was small but comfortable, freezing cold at night, lucky for the electric blanket provided!! An expat pub next door made the stay quite enjoyable. Hotel staff were happy to help via a translator (on my laptop...). Lucky to find but a handful of English speaking people...
