The hotel in general was great - the room was extremely spacious, clean, and well maintained. Check in was really easy and quick, with the receptionist being polite, friendly, and informative. It was noted when we got into the room, that there was no safe facility available. Luckily we weren't travelling with any large amount of cash or valuables, but it would have been nice to know that our car keys could have been locked away while we were in the city and not using the car. What we didn't like, though, was that our room had an adjoining room, which we would prefer not to have had. I don't know if all rooms were like this - we certainly weren't asked if it was ok.
Breakfast was excellent - even to the point where staff asked if we would like more coffee serving, which was really appreciated as it meant we didn't have to join the queue at the machine, and could just carry on enjoying our food.
On the second night of our stay, when going back to our room, it was obvious that somebody had been smoking weed in the corridor on the floor where our room was. Smoke detectors obviously hadn't picked this up, which leads you to wonder what might have happened if it had been a fire?
It's a pity that there is no lower rate at the NCP car park opposite the entrance for guests - instead, the Highcross car park is a few minutes walk away...not enjoyable when either dragging luggage or walking in the pouring rain!
