I stayed at the Big Chile because of the close proximity to the bike paths. Las Cruces has some nice paved bike paths and like the rest of New Mexico only gets 310 days of sunshine each year.
This hotel was fine for an overnight stay while on the road. This older property has been given a second chance by a friendly and caring staff. Room was clean, a/c worked, there’s coffee in the lobby in the morning, and staff are super friendly. Parking lot is secured by a gate after 10pm. Fine with me! I would definitely stay here again.
Nice and safe location, clean room, 5 star motel . I will use again !

The Staff were very nice, and the rates are great but once you get to your room you see why. Old and dingy sheets that used to be white but are now yellowing and the rooms (all three of them - all in different sections of the motel) smelled like an ashtray. And I'm not talking just a little smoke smell I'm talking like they have only and always been used by heavy smokers. Strong and nasty! The maintenance man came to our rooms with an air freshener spray, but it did absolutely nothing to mask the smoke smell. One of the staff said that our rooms were non-smoking which clearly is not enforced. If you are a smoker, you probably won't mind. If you are a non-smoker, you'll want to steer clear.
Staying here is like going to see your grandma if your grandma was a great gardener and had a pond next to the pool. The staff is super friendly. The other guests are too. Sitting in the central courtyard, you're serenaded by bird songs and children's voices. The WiFi could be stronger, but that's what gets you into the central courtyard, so I was grateful for that too.
Quiet room in back. Never got TV to work. We got back late after NMSU game and gates were closed to access back rooms. Was never informed at check in that we had to roll them back ourselves to let car in.
What a deal. Never stayed in a nicer place for less money and have paid a lot more for less room. Clean and functional room with basic amenities, and many inviting spaces outside to enjoy. Not for everyone, but I will be back.
Looks are deceiving. This is a clean hotel with friendly staff. I enjoyed my stay there.

Liked: Cleanliness
The person at the desk when we arrived was nice but the person when we left was a bit rude.
The rooms were a bit rundown but, were good size. Having a stove and refrigerator was a plus.

Cleaner sheets , towels , towels smelt kinda funky. Maybe add more amenities in the restroom. More pillows and better pillows. More security on the door. Other than that good hotel.
