"The cottage is fine and it is in a nice location BUT the details of the cottage listed on the Expedia website and Sykes Cottages are different and misleading. Expedia shows the cottage to be within the Penzance city centre & 8 minute walk from the ferry terminal. The cottage is 8 miles (13 kms.) from the Penzance city centre. "Beautiful property, great location and staff provided an excellent standard of service. The WhatsApp connection to concierge works brilliantly and saves a lot of hassle, too. I’m not sure that the Grandhomes (apartments physically disconnected from the hotel building) represent good value, though. I would look first towards a room in the main hotel building. Also, beware of lots of additional charges for meals and hotel services. I found this particularly disappointing considering the price point."

"3/5 – Decent stay, but tight on space Overall an okay experience. The room was quite small for two people on a week-long trip — storage was limited and we genuinely struggled to find space to open and access our suitcases properly. It's also not a modern hotel, though that's probably fairly typical for the area. There's also no lift, which made carrying heavy luggage up to the room a real struggle. The hotel is right next to a main road, so it was noisy even with the windows closed. On the plus side, the staff were helpful throughout, and the chef was friendly and made a nice impression. The location is a real strength — easy access to both bus and train, so getting around Penzance and beyond was convenient. Given the price we paid, though, it didn't quite feel like it matched the value — for the cost, I'd have expected a bit more in terms of room size and amenities."

"View was stunning, catch of the day was amazing, manager was top notch and did everything she could to resolve any issues. Room was lovely, unfortunately balcony was in need of TLC, however it is due to be renovated we understand. Room was very hot and as it is set back there is little breeze, would definitely recommend having fans available with all this hot weather."

"The only thing wrong is that the hotel needs upgrading, there were stains on the carpet in reception, as well as in the bar area, in some of the rooms as well. if you are an older guest or have mobility problems the room that we were in, had a bath, with a shower over but I could not access, no room to sit on the toilet as the basin was too close to the toilet and had a nasty crack in it. No lift to access our room, just a staircase which I have a job to use as I have severe arthritis. My fault I should of asked about disabled facilities."
