We drove 4 hours and upon check in they informed us the water park was NOT included in stay. The room was filthy ( bathtub had hairs in it, toilet was dirty, and the bed sheets were stained). Our room key was assigned to other guests whom walked into our room while we were still inside. Every guest we encountered told us to not waste money on the water park- it’s filthy and water heaters are always broken. We decided to leave 4 hours after arriving, to drive back home another 4 hours. When we informed the front desk of our reasons for leaving and requesting refund, they told us we would have to email the manager because there was no one there to authorize a refund. After going back and forth for a while, my husband agreed to to allow them to charge one night ( we were supposed to be there for 2 nights), they agreed and put a refund request form in for the 2nd night. Although they charged us for one night we still decided to leave with our kids. It was absolutely a horrible experience, my 3 yr old and autistic 13 yr old were devastated and tired. My 3 yr old celebrated his birthday in the car since he couldn’t have his celebration at the resort as we planned. We will NEVER recommend them to anyone.

The place has so much potential but it needs some real updating. It’s dark around the property making it tough to see anything. Our building where we stayed was very secluded and needed to be restored.

If you through Expedia, the hotel treats you horrible. The price is the same if you book through the hotel website maybe a very small difference but you get water park tickets you get kitchen ware and you get treated differently. I booked through Expedia and Didn’t get any water park tickets no kitchen culinary no pots no pans not even forks spoons or cups. When I called downstairs they said I booked through a third party and that is not included, the same thing they said when we arrived regarding the water park tickets. To top it off the room looked really old and out of date and management was even worse no customer service etiquette. When I spoke with Maya who claimed to be the manager on duty and explained it was my granddaughters birthday if there was anything she could to to make our experience better she said no I booked through a third party so talk with them. Expedia misleads you when they say this is a rare find cause you have water park access making it seem it’s included and then in fine print on another page it says surcharge. And the hotel sucks because they put rooms on Expedia because they obviously can’t get all the rooms rented but then they treat the paying customer like crap taking basic amenities like cups forks and dishes away but there’s a full kitchen in the room. Make that make sense! Overall horrible experience my granddaughters birthday was ruined, don’t even bother going there!

Room was adequate but very old, bathroom food didn’t close, AC and heating was temperamental. We have been staying at Split Rock for more than 20 years now and they need to invest a bit more into the facility. On the upside, the pool is still good, common areas are maintained and gym is newly renovated and with all new equipment.

In March 2026 I booked a two-night stay, despite the rough reviews, because my son is really into tennis right now and this trip was his 16th birthday present. The website depicted beautiful and spacious indoor tennis courts and we planned to just play our hearts out. We also planned to enjoy the waterpark and indoor basketball courts. The room was as pictured which was nice. Unfortunately, the restaurants and cafe closed several hours earlier than indicated on the night we arrived and the front desk offered zero suggestions. The next morning we discovered that the indoor tennis courts no longer exist - a massive disappointment considering it was in the low 20's outside with wind gusts up t0 25 mph. The basketball court was blocked off for a gun show the resort was hosting that weekend. The waterpark never opened on Thursday, despite the posted hours, and when it did open on Saturday, we were afraid to go based on the filthy, leaking conditions of the tube slides which could be seen from the parking lot. I contacted Expedia to complain and the hotel was unwilling to offer any amount of refund. They did offer us a late checkout and complimentary breakfast, which was actually lovely, until a baby cockroach walked past our view on the wall beside our table. My son and I made the best of it and there were two employees who stood out, Pablo in management and Louis in the Bistro, but other than them this was a massive fail. The health department should get over there asap.

We stayed in one of the condo units tucked in the woods and it was very quiet. There were no supplies provided in the kitchen ( dish cloths, soap, etc.) because we were not time share owners, but they were eventually provided when requested. The in room Jacuzzi was great. The property is aging, but is being updated by Wyndham at this time and improvements are expected.

The kitchen was not fully equipped with any cooking utensils. The kitchen was dirty. There was blood on the floor from the last person that was there. I complained about it and they’ve never sent anybody to clean it. There was a dead fly over the kitchen table. They never came and cleaned it. The shower did not work. They came to fix it said it was fixed and then I went to go get a shower after that it was not fixed. I ended up getting my room switched twice. Place was horrible. I would never go back 2 inches of dust all over the place the ceiling fan was thick of dust.
