I visited Royal Lahaina with my partner and we had a partial ocean view room on the 12th floor in the tower. The view was of the golf course, mountains and ocean. It was an amazing view for the price and I consider this hotel a great value. It’s a small resort with vintage Hawaiian vibes—simple and beautiful. The grounds are really gorgeous and lush, with a beautiful canyon tree which hosts performances at night. The sand bottom beach is heaven and it’s the best swimming beach I’ve ever experienced. We travel quite a bit and were in love with the entire property. The property is walking distance to Whaler’s Village and other properties and restaurants. We went snorkeling at Black Rock (Sheraton has snorkels for rent there, super easy) and had shave ice after—then a short walk back to Royal Lahaina. I would like to come back with my kiddos and try a bungalow—they are a bit more private but lack the views we had in the tower. What could be better: the toilet room/shower is small, lower ceilings and more rustic than the room. If you rent an umbrella for the beach, the chairs are really uncomfortable and not Lou ge style —but we could have spent more for a bungalow on the grass which is close to the beach. One restaurant on the property and it’s delicious. The coffee shop/ice cream shop is a great value and place for snacks. We typically like boutique hotels and while this is a resort we found it very charming. We will definitely be back.

Our bungalow was absolutely magical! Opening our curtains each day to run out to the beach is the absolute best. And the uninterrupted family time felt sooo good! We will be back again and again! Won’t stay anywhere else.

They have text system where you can message the Front desk, its not convenient they respond the following day if you have any questions. And during the day we’re checking in, we were arriving later time I tried calling them, the front desk doesn’t answer their. Also note they clean every other day. But overall we still had a good vacation.

We had a wonderful stay! We chose this location to be close to the 5k start line for the Maui Marathon, and it couldn't have been more convenient. Our room on the 12th floor offered phenomenal ocean views, and as Maui residents, we were thrilled that the property is so pet-friendly. The reception team was fast, kind, and efficient. Our room was clean and comfortable, we’ll definitely be back. Mahalo!

It is likely the resort with the best location on the island—situated right on an excellent beach. The only things spoiling the experience are the grossly inflated prices and the need to pay for absolutely everything; the only thing left is for them to start charging for the air itself.

Overall clean room. The shower was dated and could use fresh tile design. Staff as polite and helpful. Buffet was not worth $30 per person. Need to get extend happy hour at bar or work on the pricing per drink.

The only Positive of the hotel is the Bell Desk staff are amazing. The rest of the staff are okay....cleaning my room at 7PM-8PM at night is not acceptable...nighttime cleaning is a deal breaker. Had to request my room be serviced and then it was not done that well...coffee cups not washed, sheets not changed, and the shower had mold in it. The rooms are in dire need up refurbishing. The hotel performed pest control in the middle of my stay instead of waiting till after check-out and requested all food be moved to the refrigerator for safety...seriously? The resort fee is $45 a night and parking is $40 a night --- outdoor parking where you compete with Luha guests that come to the property - finding parking can be challenging...but you're still paying $40 a day to park. Oh, and the pool is not heated! And no, Hawaiian sun does not heat it...and there is no jacuzzi. Not sure exactly what "resort fee" was paying for. Your room is serviced every other day, but as I mentioned I had to ask for each time and it was always done late at night and not that well... the room smelled from the dampness and the mold in the shower.

Amazing experience. Can't say enough about the staff and the amenities. Proximity to beach was perfect. Views from balcony you cant miss. Will be returning soon.

Best part was the evening music under the Banyan tree at Branches. Worst part was the leaf blowers every morning around 9am. Dinner menu needs some lower cost meals like burgers. Staff were very friendly and access to beach perfect.

We've been to this property over ten or eleven times always fantastic, big shout out to the woman named Ocean at the front desk.She really helped us out and just a pleasure to deal with. Also a big shout out to the bartender. Melissa, just a wonderful experience. You can't get a better property to stay at in kannapali

Very good value. The resort has everything you need, friendly staff, good restaurant, beautiful and well kept grounds,not over crowded. It is not the most high end resort on the island but it has a great location, and I would definitely stay here again!

Check in took quite a while as though there were multiple people behind the counter, only one person was helping people. The room was perfect-clean and well set up. The fridge in the room worked well. Parking was a bit tough-but can be managed. If you don’t want to carry your stuff for a distance, opt for valet. The check out process was bumpy. I woke up the desk person and she wouldn’t provide a receipt, telling me she would email it. Well-she did not. And I got the message that I had not checked out on time. Had to make multiple calls to get things straightened out. Finally got a gentleman that helped me. Would stay there again-

We have a new favorite place to our return visits to Maui. The Royal Lahaina is welcoming, not overwhelming. A sense of old Hawaii envelopes you in a way that cannot be found at a corporate resort like Hyatt or Westin. We stayed in an ocean front bungalow and could not have been happier. Quiet, private and the patio opened to the grass area and the beach just steps beyond. Our sunset view each evening was picture perfect. The resort has two pools and a bar and is lovely. It never felt crowded or loud. We will definitely be back!

Overall, the staff and hotel amenities were amazing and we really enjoyed our stay. However, the cleanliness of the resort had much to be desired. In our first room, there was a mineral and biofilm build up in the sink faucet, big lumps of dust covering the vents and bathroom door, a broken latch on said door, and a broken seal on the sliding door to the balcony that made it foggy. We asked to switch rooms after noticing these details on our first day. Our second room had a smaller but still noticeable mineral build up in the faucet, something plant-like poking out of the ceiling, dripping wood stain from a beam, trash under the tv stand (from previous inhabitants), and a random termite swarm the night of our fifth day. Every time housekeeping came to clean and restock our room, no one addressed the faucet buildup, wood stain, mystery ceiling intruder, or trash under the tv stand (which we found ourselves on our last day). Aside from our rooms, the pool chairs, umbrellas, and parts of the restaurant outside were covered in bird waste and were not cleaned. The staff were very helpful throughout our trip and we thoroughly enjoyed the amenities, but the cleanliness of the resort overall really took away from the experience.
