Spot on location, hardworking and friendly staff & overall an excellent stay & experience !
Thank you to all the staff from Manager, Receptionist, housekeeping to the Guards for their service in making it a memorable holiday experience !
It’s a comfortable stay , Heritage appeal , The bell boy Raja is incredibly helpful , Room was a bit small , but given the historical nature it’s bearable ,Only slight discomfort is the noisy window ac , Rest it’s a fantastic stay , not to forget right in front of the iconic New market

Top value in the Centre
The revelation was the roof terrace restaurant and cocktail bar on the 10th floor. Fabulously cooked Indian menu, good cocktails and an eagle that swooped around the top of the building in search of pigeon.
We were given a different room than what we paid for. After complaining to Hotels.com they called and offered to show us the correct room. Hallways are dirty, linen not the nicest, towels stained. Very little hot water but typical for India. Probably a nice hotel in the day. Great location across from the New Market. Cleaning staff and front door staff were excellent and very helpful. Rooftop bar/restaurant was very nice.
It was simply a horrible experience staying in Lindsay. I will never stay there again nor i will recommend someone. Support staffs were good and cordial. Even plates were using during breakfast , were so old no can imagine unless you experience thru it. Furniture were all broken down. Amenities were good.
A bad experience. Service was rude and unhelpful. Room was much smaller than the photos showed. Very noisy part of town - not recommended at all for guests looking for a relaxed holiday. When we said that we would move out, the hotel refused to give any refund - we lost 11 days of paid stay. Maybe okay for somebody on a business trip in that area - book only for one day first and then see how it goes.

Freundlichste, hilfsbereite Staff und Top Lage
Äußerst hilfsbereite Staff, selbst in besonders schwierigen Situationen. Allerbeste Lage am New Market. Perfekt, um Kolkata zu Fuß zu entdecken. Executive Zimmer mit toller Aussicht. Rooftop Restaurant. Perfekte Location für Reisende, die sich nicht daran stören, dass das Hotel leider etwas in die Jahre gekommen ist.
I think there is a kind of scam going on - real (1) to (5) below - this is based on my experience.
(1) The description and photos are not the room that is given to you. When you say it to the receptionist, they argue and blame it on the platform (HOTELS.COM), However, I think Hotels.com cannot be blamed (based on my experience in several countries);
(2) The receptionist will call the hotel manager to show that they are trying to help the customer, but it is a charade. The manager will say, you can let the customer go by entering "no show". Obviously, this means you will lose some money as they flag you as "no show" - your card details are already with Hotels.com (this is the reason that I stayed in the hotel, rather than walkout);
(3) After manager disconnects, an additional choice is offered - pay 35-40% for the room you thought you booked (i.e., same description and the one you see in the photo). It appears that Lindsay has one Junior Suite (INR5,500+ GST). With that room rate, you could get a better room at a different hotel. A hotel that is is clean and not dated (with Lindsay, the theme of the hotel is nostalgia, but one may have both nostalgia and the clean rooms and facilities).
(4) I understood this to be a scam, since the receptionist asked me to check the room "repeatedly" before paying, First I thought he was being polite, but then it occurred to me that this is happening regularly (i.e., misleading customers) and they anyway know at that point guest cannot leave
The room was booked for 2 adults and paid accordingly, where my friend was local citizen who was supposed to stay with me. But they didn’t allow my friend to stay with me. So, I’ve checked out at midnight at booked another hotel through booking.com. It was a waste of money for me. Hotels.com should investigate this issue and should not harass any guest in future. We are paying for comfort, not to waste our money.
It is a very conveniently located property with an average decore and ambiance- the staff is very helpful. Food is below avarage

Standards are Slipping
1st stayed here in 2016 and as I liked it then, I would stay here again in 2018. What a regret. No smiles, no nice customer service and I even had the restaurant manager yell at me. Lobby staff dont know whats going on. The hotel is getting old and tired and could so with a face lift. Bed was as hard as nails. Glad I was only there for 1 night.
This was our second time starting here. This time the check in was lightning fast. Tom was good and clean. Amenities were educate. Breakfast was good. And New market, Hogg Market, bazar Kolkata, treasure island, sim mall is near
I've booked for Deluxe Room with king size bed for ourself. I've sent one colleague to them before I arrive to confirm that.They confirmed that to my colleague. But when I reached the, they gave me to single bed. And those beds can't be joined. My 2 years old daughter slept in the middle without comfort. Next day they have us double bed. Toilet amenities were not adequate. In breakfast they don't offer only egg! Their only positive thing is their location.
Value plus in central Calcutta. Tourist area. Lovely big rooms. Very clean and today.

Hotel needs new floor coverings throughout. Hot water good. Internet good. Breakfast good. Could improve by providing/finding taxi drivers who are not crooks (rare in Calcutta).
I will never book with Expedia.com again. You made an error and put only one person in a double deluxe room. I had to pay for my child almost AU$29 per night in a double bed room. Hotel is OK but the fee charged is not good. Expedia made a mistake and I had to pay extra $29 per night.
Pros: The location of this hotel is very good in terms of shopping. Just a narrow street in between hotel and new market. Breakfast is quite good. Rooftop bar & restaurant is also good.
Cons: Rooms are pretty small in terms of the amount you are paying for the room. Outside of front gate is always dirty and full of footpath shops. Staffs are quite unfriendly.
