Chilled, quiet and very laid back

I loved it here, my second time as a solo traveller, I felt safe at all times. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, a few minutes walk to good restaurants, great coffee place, atm and shops. Everything you need for a relaxing time, I would recommend.

Beachfront resort with spacious, comfortable rooms. The food at its restaurant is excellent, and there are several other good options nearby. A highlight is the area with view to the bay, where I used to eat and relax in the evenings. The swimming pool is also nice, albeit sometimes shared with diving classes.

We are a mom-daughter duo from the US. A great stay. The bungalows are older but clean. Bed very comfortable and AC works very well (this is important due to the heat). Restaurant serves delicious food (all meals) as well as great views. The dive shop on site is super convenient with a lot of great excursion offerings. We look forward to coming back to Assava again for future diving classes and programs. The hotel offers free shuttle to and from the pier as well as motor bike rentals. The resort is also walking distance to the beautiful Shark Bay where snorkeling was absolutely fantastic (sea turtles!!) Staff friendly and kind.

Thanks to Chas, Rod, Viola and all the rest of the diving masters and staff at the Assava. Patient, knowledgeable and great guides. Did a refresher and my son got the Open water. Couldn't have been better. Nice and quiet area. Just one thing. Have more trashcans close to the beach. Makes it easier to pick up garbage from the beach.

went diving in Koh Tao, Thailand through Assava Dive Resort. Beautiful accommodations and right off the ocean. Felt like paradise. I signed up for my open-water scuba diving PADI course with Steven Crane. An amazing teacher and explained everything. He removed the fear and hesitation I had about diving. I felt completely safe under his hands and he was with me for every dive. I loved it so much that I signed up for the advanced PADI open water course, and did ten dives with Steve. Brilliant experience and profound when I swam with a whale shark.

The main focus here is diving. Not food, drink or the rooms. We stayed at probably the best chalet (by the beach) and it was small, basic and the a/c couldn't keep up with the modest heat. We had to pay for an upgrade as the "delux" chalet was a cupboard. Unfortunately, if you stay at a dive resort, they're nearly all like this

This was one of our favourite stays while in Thailand for 3 weeks. We stayed in quaint, rustic bungalows. Very picturesque setting, located in beautiful bay. Great little restaurant & bar on site has great food and drink, very reasonable but if you want something else there are places within walking distance. We did intro dive with the resort dive operation - a superb experience - well worth considering if you are staying there. You don't have to be a diver to enjoy this resort. Staff is great. If time was our own we would have extended our stay. Highly recommend for people who don't make a habit of looking for where to assign demerit points - its not perfect but it is beautiful.

Deluxe garden twin

Room was very comfortable, AC worked well, wifi was good. Restaurant food was ok, I enjoyed the restaurants down the street better. There's a 7-11 and a pharmacy down the road along with 2 ATMs. Lots of restaurants in the street. I stayed 8 nights and went diving 6 days. Great instructors and divemasters. Located in a quieter area compared to Sai Ri Beach and I much prefer it. Diving was in small groups (3-18 people?) as opposed to crazy large groups (looked like 30-50 people?) at Sai Ri Beach. I liked the personable atmosphere where you get to know everyone you are diving with and you also get to know your divemasters. I would definitely go back.

I am a returning guest (2017 we stayed there already and were quite satisfied) and it has even improved since then. Right now they are building new seminar rooms for diving courses which will be finished soon.

Excellent séjour passé dans cet établissement. Petit chalet confortable dans un resort et centre de plongée. Très bon accueil et service, petit déjeuner très agréable servi vue mer. Le personnel est très peu jovial, le service au restaurant est d'une lenteur jamais vu. c'est vrai que c'est un centre de plongée mais si il ne veulent pas d'autres clientele ils n'ont qu'a ne louer qu'aux plongeurs.
