Very large property, very well maintained. Room was large and clean. A/C worked great. Selelo was our host; very kind and attentive. Assisted us with booking events. Accompanied us a a boat safari. Food was excellent. Game drivers: Lesh and Jinx went above and beyond to try to meet our every request. We were lucky enough to see nearly every type of animal in the park. Highly recommend this place.
When we arrived we were told that the Safari Lodge was under renovation construction. We had to use the Bush Lodge. The safari room that we originally booked was very good. The Bush Lodge is nowhere near as nice as what the Safari Lodge was. Of particular inconvenience was the very small pool that they have at the Bush Lodge.
The Chobe area is amazing but I don’t feel the Bush Lodge is worth such a very high price. We booked the Safari Lodge which I assume is closed for refurb currently but ended up in the Bush Lodge. I’m not aware we were ever informed of this. The hotel is keen on trying to upsell to even more expensive accommodation, perhaps at the expense of customer care and attention. For approaching £400 per night, I think it is fair to have a room which falls below 30 Celsius at night despite air con and room fan. Cleaning staff and tour guides were excellent and friendly, other staff less so. Breakfast good, dinner options pretty average. Stayed in far better safari accommodation in South Africa and Zimbabwe for half the price where we were made to feel far more welcome.
The Chobe Safari Lodge was a very expensive mistake.
TL;DR It wasn't just bad for the money we spent, but bad for a standard $200/night hotel.
The Bad:
- The room was incredibly disappointing: it was not well appointed, small, and not especially clean. Hard to explain how ick it felt.. your heart sort of drops when you walk into the room and you realize this is what you got your hopes up for.
- I had to ask for soap and shampoo to be brought to the room; there was literally none. It took three go-rounds with the hotel service to actually get soap and shampoo.
- The pool was filthy -- it's literally a dare to get into the water.
- The "nature walk" was the lease compelling nature we saw in Botswana.
The OK:
- One redeeming point was the woman at the front desk (Patricia, if I recall correctly?) who helped us check in; she was gracious and helpful. All other staff we interacted with were actively unhelpful and indifferent.
- The boat tour was just OK; it was not the glamorous boat tour you'd expect. It's one sub-par drink on an otherwise pared-down boat. But you do see some cool stuff.
To note:
- All activities cost extra. They are not included in the cost of the hotel.
- Essentially all of the activities outside of the standard safari stuff seemed pretty lame when you dug into it.
In all, if you're looking for a really nice stay, better to properly spend on one of the $800-$1000/night hotels for just one night rather than spending two at a truly sub-standard hotel.
The riverside standalone cottages are very nice, esp rooms 33-35. Staff friendly. Breakfast choice is limited to a buffet and overpriced at $30.
Must-do tour is the afternoon 3 hr cruise.
Tour groups come here.

Could be very good…..
Very nice setting. It could be good in other respects too - with a bit more care and attention the food could be better and general environment.

Meget fint ophold, servicen helt i top.
