"Older building needs bit of maintenance. Outstanding welcome with rose petals and towels folded into statuettes. No air con and quirky electricals. Breakfast only just OK, could have been better for budget. Stairs, no lift, par for course for Myanmar. Had to ask for basics like tea bags (also par for course for Myanmar where it is assumed you want coffee)."

"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Royal Kalaw Hills Resort. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, the food is excellent and the service was personal and everyone was very attentive. Chozin, who manages the resort was particularly helpful and I could always count on her to help me in many capacities. Her English skills are very good and she was able to help tremendously. "A very hospitable new hotel about 4km outside Kalaw in a quiet area with fantastic rural views. Still getting established and with plans for a pool and spa. Great food and the staff could not be more friendly or helpful. A little quiet while we were there but probably due to low season approaching and getting themselves set up."
