Bucket List Trip

Amazing unique experience. Got to see the Auroras from right behind the hotel (without having to sign up for their tour). They provided snowsuits and boots which was so helpful!

All of the staff here are down to earth and very helpful with answering our questions. The warm hotel is simple and clean. I like it being quiet which made our stay peaceful. The location is also close by the waters and nature always is a plus! I can always go back here to experience these one again!

Bathrooms were filthy all the while we were there. The hotel had inadequate dining facilities to ensure all guests could have dinner. Staff less than helpful.

The cold ice rooms are amazing for 1 night. The warm rooms have nothing special. There is nothing to do around the hotel or in the hotel. Staff do not help you out with anything.

I paid $1,200 for one night’s stay for myself and my daughters. The artistry is amazing. However, the service was terrible. Nobody helps you with your bags. Nobody tells you where your room is. Nobody greets you. We had to drag our luggage all over the place trying to guess where our room was. They cater to the tours. They advertise “check in and out” times, which aren’t correct. You can “check in” but cannot take possession of your room until approximately 6pm. You can “check out” at approximately 11am, but you have to be out of your room at 8am so they can clean for tours. When asking for information, we were pointed to a QR Code and told to watch it. The resort was neat to see, but that is a considerable amount of money for one night to not be treated well. Nothing was complimentary, not even coffee in the morning. I would recommend touring the property, but I would not recommend staying. We looked forward to this stay for over a year and were greatly disappointed due to the lack of service.

I stayed during the summer time. Property looks very run down, unkept, an eye sore. The room I stayed in didn’t have a real mattress. The thermostat was locked and couldn’t be changed, and the room was cold. There was mold or mildew in the shower area. Besides the bathroom, the rest of the room was clean as you would expect. Dining at the ice hotel restaurant is very tasty, but very expensive. Hotel is in a remote area with not much else around. The 365 ice art rooms and hotel are very cool to see. Hotel guests get into the ice art rooms for free. Overall an average experience and stay. Maybe it would be nicer during winter. Then again, some of the rooms could use a huge makeover.

The staff here started out really rude and unhelpful, not explaining anything about the hotel or what to do, and ended up so horrible we missed our train. We came in early to have them call a taxi, said they did, and then ended up not calling until 10 minutes we needed to leave, so we missed the train. They were not helpful at all, management was extremely rude as if it was our fault. And help blaming the taxi company. We missed an entire day at our next destination. Beyond that, for the price this place was just not worth it. Really encourage you to skip this place, save the money and the headache, or just buy a pass to see the rooms quick.

Gulag Archipelago

The positives: food is good Service is Soviet Era. No smiles or helpful demeanor. A lot of interns. The hotel itself is not designed well. The actual ice rooms have one electrical outlet, right by the door, far away from the bed. Should you charge your device, there is a high risk the maid will open the door without knocking (this happened) and break something. The rooms have no tables or surfaces but the bed, and ice. There are zero amenities - no lamps, minibar, slippers, hangers - zero! The sauna is woefully low in temperature, hardly enough to break into a sweat. Seeing as how everything is separated geographically, this would the perfect place to have bathrobes. Or slippers. One "MUST" leave all luggage in separate chambers away from the ice hotel. These are not very secure, and accessible from the sides and above. If you are cold in the middle of the night, you could get out of the sleeping bag, walk outside to the reception building, and possibly retrieve another layer of clothing to sleep in. All you get is the one bag. The dining hall is over a kilometer away. There was no service in the bar. There was not even a way to get a glass of water - there are no cups except for in reception, so if one is thirsty at night you have to go to the toilets and drink from the tap. To have a pee at night you have to open 4 doors and walk in the freezing cold hallway to the communal restrooms - and I had the upscale "Art Suite". I've never been so happy to leave a hotel in my life.

Alright hotel

Arrived a bit late because I drove in from Alta in Norway. And because I went to the Tirpitz museum and spent longer there than I initially thought I would spend there. Room was alright. Really hot, though. Luckily, the front desk gave me a fan, which I then had next to me the entire night. Got a free upgrade, which basically consisted of 2 cans of Loka water, 1 can of Coke and 1 can of Fanta Orange. And a mini bag of Ahlgrens Bilar. Lots of mosquitos in the area, so had to sleep with the windows closed. Bathroom was alright, but space between sink and tap was so small my hands wouldn't fit. Washing my hands was a bit of a pain. The toilet seat was made of wood, but a bit too small. Shower was alright, but the soaps weren't. Also: they were out of shower gel. Breakfast was really early. Which, in turn, allowed me to start my day early and also arrive early at my next location. In all, it was an alright hotel.
