The palace is beautiful, well maintained. The room is comfy, clean, and large space. The staff is all nice and attentive.
However, the service at restaurant (esp. breakfast) was very slow.

Lonely place with few facilities
The palace does not have lift and there are quite a few stairs. The place is somewhat deserted as you won't find anything to do nearby.jaipur is 1and half hour drive away. It's okay for a day relaxation. Pool is good .It didn't had too many options for the breakfast compared to the tariff it is charging and I didn't find the staff too courteous.
This is by far one of the most unique yet fascinating hotel property i ever stayed! The original Maharaja residene, an exotic charm that sits in the middle of Rajasthan mountaineous landscape!
Amazing Hotel with reach history. Only in India you can stay in a hotel that constantly reminds you that you are in a real museum no in a Hotel. Full of details every where that are 400 years old. Great staff and great food. Beautiful infinit pool in the middle of the Mountain. Unique experience to say the least!
A beautiful hotel perched high up on a hill in Rajasthan. Be transported to a bygone era in the Samode Palace with attentive service, beautiful food and sumptuous surroundings.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who outnumbered guests by a significant ratio when I stayed there in low season. Good modern aircon and a choice of beautiful pools compensates for the blistering summer heat.
Some of the rooms could do with a facelift. My bed was a bit hard, but that's normal for India.
The food was first class; Indian haute cuisine with wonderful presentation and nice little touches like surprise appetisers.
Don't expect to pay Indian prices though; the hotel charges first world rates for spa services like massage and facials.
The village at the base of the hotel is worth a visit just to see the contrast between the very modest lives of the villagers and the sumptuous luxury above. Scavenging pigs roam the streets and a few local artists and artisans ply their wares.
If you visit, don't expect a vast range of attractions outside the hotel; this is alll about the hotel experience. There is a very good free guided tour of the public rooms, including the magnificent Durbar Hall, included in your stay.
Wonderful fantasy experience.
this was the most beautiful experience in our life time
everything was just amazing
you should be proud of the diligence and the leadership of the people behind this and frankly we shall be back
the fine dining needs to be a little up graded while it was good the food needs to be modern indian if fine dinning is the aim please dont be upset about my comment as the service was impeccable
we dine there because there was another big group and we wanted to experience your divine destination with privacy
feel free to contact me as i am a french chef with a restaurant in the hUNTER vALLEY aUSTRALIA
and therefore can be a consultant at no cost only to be acommodated and discuss your needs
From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were royalty. We were greeted warmly at reception and was treated promptly as soon as we got there. We were surprised with a room upgrade which we all loved, including our 4 kids! The rooms were extravagant and we felt like we got a taste of what the maharajahs had lived like. Both restaurants are excellent and the staff were all very helpful and seemed happy to serve us. We enjoyed tours around the villages and the palace, complementary of the hotel. The palace has beautiful rooms and artwork to enjoy. The pools are fantastic and hot tubs are a plus since it was a little chilly. The duty manager made an effort to make sure that we had the best possible stay....we were treated as family. A nice policy they have is that they don't encourage individual tipping of the staff....only a tip box that we can choose to put tips in at the end of our stay. It takes the pressure out of constantly worrying about how much to give everyone. Overall, an excellent stay and we would happily return!
Stayed at quite a few hotels in India before coming here, including a few palace hotels.
The place took some effort to get to, and the town of Samod is very small and generally uninteresting.
The palace looked great from photos and a distance but is run down from poor maintenance. For example we had a very large suite but the door wouldn't close properly, the study table was very dusty and the bath(jacuzzi) was dirt ridden.
Service was minimal and poor, with exception of the restaurant. After check in, there were no staff to be seen in the hotel. No one at the pool area to help you, no one around the the grounds. There were a group of men in uniform at the front gate, but they don't really acknowledge you, so I wasn't even sure if they worked there. When we left, not a single person helped with our luggage, and there were at least 5 staff member standing at the front gate looking at us.
The restaurant had amazing food, and the staff were very pleasant. Some of the best pasta i've had anywhere, and amazing curries.
Overall, overpriced and poor hotel. Lots of palace hotels to choose from in india, but this one is just not up to scratch.
