The check in process was awful. The hotel staff attempted to have me cancel my reservation which had been already paid, so that the hotel could charge me additional for what they claimed were “taxes.” The taxes were paid with my reservation. Once the hotel staff determined that I live in the United States they wanted to add additional fees to my reservation. The hotel staff wants me to pay additional for my two rooms that I reserved, I paid $211 for the two rooms and they want me to pay $260, initially they claimed the additional fees was because I was international, now they claim there are additional taxes, lastly they claimed it was because my mother decided to join us on our trip (she was not included in the reservation). They also called in the phone asking me prior to checking in asking me to pay cash as they knew I was coming from the US. This is unacceptable! The hotel should not be listed on Expedia due to their predatory and downright shady business practices.

El jacuzzi no estuvo caliente para su uso. Tuve que buscar personal para que me entreguen toallas en la piscina porque no había nadie pendiente. Tuve que solicitar cambio de habitación porque no había agua caliente y un fuerte olor a brea que vino de un area que estaban pintando. El lugar es muy bonito pero al parecer si no se va con un grupo de turismo no están pendientes. Sin embargo, al poner mi queja si me dieron in descuentos.

Wonderful traditional Hacienda with beautiful grounds and lots of fun activities for kids. The staff was attentive and very helpful in helping us arrange transportation and day trips with a great guide. The buildings are old, which is the charm, so expect rustic.

El precio del hotel no está acorde a la calidad y antigüedad del mismo. El desayuno muy malo. Deben invertir los propietarios o dejar de prestar el servicio. No recomiendo a nadie hospedarse ahí y no regresaría. Por suerte hay otro lugares.

Good location, but infrastructure getting old

Hacienda Chorlavi used to be one of the best locations to stay in Ibarra. Not anymore. The hotel is very well located on the Panamericana Highway, 5 minutes South to the city entrance. Rooms have been upgraded recently with new bathrooms, TVs and Internet. All this is good. But the rest of the hotel is getting old and service is not top level. Overall not worth the extra bucks you pay compared to other options in Ibarra.
