We loved this property. It was so serene. The wellness center was perfect for the end of our European holiday. Would highly recommend. The only recommendation (albeit very minor) I would have for the hotel is to offer some meal options that are a little more healthy/simple. But other than that, we absolutely loved our stay.

Sonntag Morgenessen vom Hotel auf dem Säntis Gipfe

Alles war wirklich top! ausser ich würde niemals mehr an einem Sonntag Morgen zum Morgenessen auf den Säntis fahren, viel zu viele Leute und die Organisation lässt zu wünschen übrig. Beim Ankommen mit der 1. Bahn, hat es keine Verantwortlichkeit die einem entgegennimmt und platziert. Also sitzt man irgendwo hin und muss dann den ganzen Platz nochmals wechseln, mit bereits vollem Teller. Das kann man besser organisieren, eine Person bzw. 2 an jedem Eingang zum Empfang der Gäste.

A Great Stay with an Amazing view

The view from the room was breathtaking and the complimentary treat was a welcomes surprise. Additionally, the town of Appenzell nearby is beautiful and welcoming. The only minor issue with our stay was that the coffee machine near the reception area was out service. Wish there was at least a hot kettle to make tea as the room does not include one. Lastly, use of wellness area was an additional fee, and based on the description alone, we did not think the cost was worth it. Maybe on a future trip we would revisit this. Overall, the Hotel is a wonderful option for those wishing to view the top of Säntis or explore the Appenzell area.

Hotel.com fails rate protection; ruins family trip

Booked hotel in June 2021 only for hotel to not honor their published rate. I thought i was protected by Hotel.com guaranteed pricing policy but Agent Ben only gave non-viable options for other properties. Not even in close proximity to original destination. Also lied about guaranteed rate policy/protection. And saying the company is no longer a partnered hotel because they ended their contract. Hotel is very much still available. In the end, definitely ruined a great family experience and no remedy or consideration for their failures.

Schönes Hotel, kleine aber schöne Zimmer. Die Herren an der Reception haben einen super Job gemacht. Sehr zuvorkommend, freundlich und speditiv ;). Das Service Personal am Abend (unser Kellner) war ebenfalls sehr freundlich und effizient unterwegs. Was die Effizienz angeht, dann kann man das vom Service Personal tagsüber im Restaurant, leider nicht behaupten. Sie laufen eher unkoordiniert und deshalb wartet man lange, bis man bedient wird, bis man die Karte bekommt (das geht nämlich nicht in einmal) und bis dann das Getränk kommt. Schade, da gibt es wirklich Verbesserungspotenzial. Ansonsten ein interessantes Hotel an einem wunderschönen Ort vor „dem“ spektakulären Berg und einer atemberaubenden Kulisse.

Absolut enttäuschend

Das Säntis Hotel wurde uns an einem Startfeld Event vorgezeigt und angepriesen, weshalb wir uns zur Buchung entschieden hatten. Der Service liess bezgl. Freundlichkeit und Professionalität von Beginn an zu wünschen übrig. Wir wurden rauh begrüsst, beim Checkin unterbrochen (ja, das erzähle ich ihnen noch und warten sie, das kommt gleich!). Der Start verlief schonmal holprig. Als uns dann bekannt gegeben wurde, dass für unseren Tag keine Spaslots mehr übrig waren (wir haben mehr Gäste als Verfügbarkeit!) war die Enttäuschung gross. Weshalb lässt man mehr Gäste ins Hotel als Spaplätze verfügbar sind oder erweitert die Spaverfügbarkeit nicht bis 10:00 abends? Wir haben schliesslich einen slot am nächsten Tag erhalten um 12:00. Die Zimmer sind gross, ruhig und die Betten weich. Es ist fraglich, weshalb aber eine grosse Glasscheibe bei der Dusche/Schlafzimmer als Trennung benutzt wurde (immerhin gibts einen Vorhang!). Auch der Wasserkocher hat uns gefehlt. Immerhin hat die Rezeptionistin mit rauhem Ton gesagt, dass die ja kein Room Service anbieten und wir das im Restaurant holen können. Abendessen war schliesslich erst um 19:30 möglich (vorher ist alles für nicht-hotel-gäste reserviert!), obwohl wir extra mittags angerufen und bezgl. Abendessen um 18:30 gefragt hatten. Am nächsten Morgen fragten wir freundlich nach, ob ein late check out nach dem spaslot möglich wäre (wir hatten ja erst einen slot nach check out, von 12:00-13:30 erhalten), worauf uns entgegnet wur

Schön, aber Preis-Leistung nicht gerechtfertigt

Das Hotel ist cool - modern, mit faszinierenden Details. Die Zimmer sind gross, allerdings war ich überrascht, dass es weder einen Temperaturregler noch Fussbodenheizung gab: die Heizkörper waren ausgeschaltet, es war kalt im Zimmer. Im Badezimmer hab es keine Heizung die Fliessen ware SO kalt! Unser zimmer sollte Bergblick haben, war aber Nordseite mit Waldblich und nicht sehr privat. Warum das Frühstück so gut bewertet wurde, kann ich nicht verstehen. Der Kaffee war gut, allerdings gab es an warmer Auswahl Rührei (nicht fein, sehr trocken), Rösti (gut, und toll, dass es angeboten wurde), hart- und weichgekochte Eier. Ich habe mit dem weichgekochten angefangen - das Eigelb war wachsig, das Eiweiss schlabberig). Was fein war, waren die "Cold-Cuts": kleine Auswahl lokaler Produkte, qualitativ hochwertig. Yoghurt und Birchermüsli, sowie Brot und croissants waren gut. Was mir gefehlt hat, war etwas frisches (Tomaten, Gurken, Früchte...). Das Personal war freundlich, nur durch Masken und Plexiglas musste man extrem laut reden um verstanden zu werden. Schön fand ich, dass ein Tisch im Restaurant reserviert wurde mit der Hotelzimmerbuchung, 2 Zeiten zur Auswahl. Schade fand ich, dass nicht das selbe mit der Sauna gemacht wurde: wir hätten gern Freitag nach unserer Wanderung zum Hotel gehen wollen, es hatte aber keinen Platz mehr. Samstag Früh um 9h konnten wir gehen - und ich muss sagen, der wellness Bereich ist zwar klein, aber sehr schön!

Immer noch schönes Hotel am Berg Säntis. Betonbau, moderne Zimmer, gutes Frühstück. War schon 4 x dort. Man merkt jetzt dass es mit den ersten Problemen losgeht. Japanische Toilette , jedoch Fernbedienung fehlte (kaputt?). Sofa auf dem Zimmer hatte 2 grosse Flecken (Zimmer 320). Sonst sehr sauber, tolle Dusche. Bettwäsche nicht sehr angenehm. Zimmer sehr warm

Sehr ruhig gelegen - auch für längeren Aufenthalt

Super Hotel, sehr professionell geführt mit sehr freundlichem Personal. Grosse Zimmer. Dusche und Lavabo sind in das Zimmer integriert, was dieses sehr grosszügig erscheinen lässt. Das WC ist in einem separaten Raum. Die Glasscheiben, welche den Nassbereich abtrennen, sind sehr schön aber nachts auch gewohnheitsbedürftig, damit man nicht hinein läuft. Gratisparkplätze: Es können die Parkplätze der Säntisbahn gratis benutzt werden, sofern es noch freie Plätze hat. Die Hoteleinstellhalle kostet aber zusätzliche 15.--. Die Stockwerksverteilung ist etwas gewohnheitsbedürftig: Parterre = Eingang zur Säntisbahn. 1. Stock = Hoteleingang / Restaurant / Morgenessen / Kasse Säntisbahn. 2. Stock = Reception. Der Lift vom Parterre führt nur in den 1.Stock. Dort muss in den Hotellift gewechselt werden. Im ersten Stock hat es aber einen Eingang von den oberen Parkplätzen der Säntisbahn her.

Das Hotel at Säntis is nothing like a 3* hotel. I would give it 4 1/2* for sure. From check in to check out the staff looks sfter you, is super friendly and help ful. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped. View of the mountain is stunning. The restaurant serves a very good breakfast buffet as well as dinner. Quality of the food is very high using a lot of regionally sourced products, inclusing cheese from the cheese fsctory across the street. We especially liked the short-holiday package that included half-board, a lunch pakket and a cable car ride up the Säntis mountain and the opportunity to have breakfast at the mountain top without any surcharge. In the dorect vicinity of the hotel there are a number of beautiful hiking tracks for various skill and stamina levels. We are already planning to come back.

Moderness Hotel mit sehr teuren Extras

Immer noch sehr schönes Hotel aber die Highlights müssen jetzt alle extra bezahlt werden, daher werde ich das Hotel nicht mehr buchen. Früher war Frühstück auf der Bergstation kostenlos möglich, jetzt müssen 15! sfr bezahlt werden. Ebenso parken: jetzt 15 sfr/Nacht.

New & Nice!

Note: I visited Schwägalp a few years ago when the old wooden hotel was still there. It was a very scenic place back then, but the new hotel is quite nice too and architecturally impressive. Time marches on!) We (senior couple, California) had a wonderful 2-nite stay in early Feb19. Unfortunately, the cable car was down due to an avalanche, but we walked snow trails and had a great time. The weather was perfect, sunny and 100% blue skies - lucky. We'll return when cable car (Schwebebahn) is back up and running. May take a while. The staff was excellent. An extraordinary thing happened: we had a young man as our waiter in hotel restaurant the first nite (2/5). We mentioned to him how delicious the "house bread" was. He had the kitchen staff bake us a loaf to take with us! He wrapped it up, the whole 9 yards. This is truly above and beyond. I have never had this happen in 60 years of travel. What a nice gesture. The young man is a huge asset to the hotel. General: I'm a big fan of Switzerland and have travelled through the country often over the decades and since the 1970s I've ridden all the train routes to exhaustion. Schwägalp (i.e., Säntis Hotel) should be on everyone's list for a visit - a delightful place. Foot stomp: they have a nice spa in the hotel. Bring a bathing suit! Robes & slippers are provided. We used public transportation to reach hotel. As usual in CH all connections were right on time. I REALLY like that! We'll be back.

They over charged us we paid all most 660 usd all most 30 percent more. No one told us upfront that there will be extra charges

Alles Bestens. Leider konnte man wegen des schlechten Wetters nicht auf dem Säntis frühstücken. Dies sollte man sich bewusst sein. Das Hotel und Personal waren top!
