Easy self check in. Fence inclosed parking lot for security. Room was comfortable, clean, and visually pleasing. Would definitely stay again! Room could use a cozy chair and the bathroom has no light over the vanity so it was very hard to see well enough to put on make up. Room had a nice little kitchenette but no pots, dishes, or silverware so we were unable to make use of the area.

Our room was clean, but we only had one towel the first night. Housekeeping quickly brought more towels the next morning. Our room could have used a chair, maybe remove one of the nightstands. We also could not get our fireplace to work. Convenient 1/2 mile walk to Oaklawn.

This place is less than a mile from the big casino, which was very convenient as we wanted to try our luck. The back parking lot is older and not attended and I wasn't sure if this was part of the place. The Derby Inn is gated so we felt secure there. The room was lovely and the small amenities they gave were great. We called ahead of time to see if we could get an earlier check in time and the staff were very accommodating. In fact, if you book through Expedia or some other website it would be good to call ahead. They have no information other than your name, so I was glad that I called. We never had a contactless check in before, but with them having my direct email and talking with them ahead of time, it made the process easy overall, as there is an APP that gives that information to you. They have a small Kuerig for coffee and a pot to heat water for tea and provide the items for your use (coffee pods, sugar/creamer packets, cups, tea), which was very nice. There is a microwave and small fridge. The bathroom is small but with just me and hubby, it was ok, but there is not a lot of cabinet space there to spread out your hygiene products, and the plug is at the light switch if you need to shave or blow dry your hair, and one small trashcan, so be aware of that. That's the only reason I gave this a four, but the staff over the phone was awesome.

The room was small but clean and had very poor amenities. Over $700 for (2) nights was outrageous and comparable with a motel six at the best. There wasn't a front desk for information. Everything you needed you had to request on-line. I was in a hurry threw some clothes out of the washer thinking I could iron once in the hotel . No iron or ironing board inside the room. The tv was like a puzzle and had to buy shows to watch. No iron or ironing board. No closet for your clothes and cabinet space to hold your personal belongings like toothpaste, deodorant and etc. False advertisement like its a luxury hotel and just a remodeled Motel. I had hell trying to get receipt on what I paid so I could split with my roommate. I was so embarrassed because I told my date that it was a really nice place to stay and it was like a remodeled Motel Six at best. It was clean was the only positive thing I could say. Cheap on soap and not enough towels. Over $700 for one king size room for 2 nights was outrageously expensive. I was so disappointed. When I see the price and pictures, I thought it would be a luxury hotel. No pool and you couldn't access the vending machines for ice or laundry because the door code was screwed up. I called but no one ever came to fix it. I will never stay at such an overrated place like this again. Price gouging at the finest. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone especially carrying a date. I was so embarrassed.

Loved the fact that the owner was on site the first morning we were there to welcome us and to see if he could do anything for us. It is an old hotel that they have made considerable improvements on. We felt safe and it was very convenient to the track(walkable) We will stay here again.
