「Hugely overpriced. I’m not saying that it is not a comfortable stay, but I would rate it a 5 star out of 10. Firstly, staff are not really helpful/ welcoming, the welcome drink was nice, but the waiter who served it didn’t give a single smile the whole time. We asked for two separate beds when we booked online but were given one king bed, luckily they double checked and changed the room for us. 「Stayed for 4 nights on the off chance we would have to curfew following the election date but glad we had the extra time here. The hotel has been closed for renovation but has recent opened 1.5 months and I could not fault it! The rooms are beautifully designed, lots of space, beautiful Mountain View’s (we had one of the sunrise view rooms but I understand they also have sunset views too) and all amenities included. 「Backyard Balangoda provides a great Sri Lankan experience, complete with a very friendly dog named Bruno! The incredibly kind owner made sure we had a wonderful stay, sharing interesting information about local life and tasty food. 「The hotel is like a small one but very warm. I arrived at 2030 at night and they were already closing the restaurant. When they knew I haven't have dinner yet, they (only the owner and a staff) insisted to make a dinner for me freshly. Although it took them quite a while, their passion and heart to service the guest were really great. I was travelling alone and they stayed until like 10 to make my dinner and waited until I finish before they go.」
