I was stuck in the snow up the street on Aberdeen and I needed a place to stay.
When the tow truck finally got me out after waiting for 2 hours I found this place.
I could have walked there from my car within one minute.
I entered a parallel reality when I walked into that house.
I was a multi millionaire for the night.
Free parking right in front too and a driveway as well.

Disliked: Staff & service
The property was double booked. I had paid in advance for my room with Expedia, and it was booked to another party on my arrival. I had to search for a hotel at the last minute.
While the property itself is a beautiful old home, convenient to St. Joe's Hospital and downtown Hamilton; it is hard to get to by car. The room I was in (Rose Room) was very large with more than ample closet space. However, the bedside lamp had to be turned on by plugging it into the wall under the desk. No switch that worked on the lamp itself. The toilet had a slow leak inside the tank and would refill 5-6 times an hour. The light from the downstairs was shining in the bedroom all night (someone forgot to turn it off). Breakfast was a coffee with no toast, pastries, and only if the hostess was up and around. (After 9 AM).
My wife and I arrived at the Hamilton Guest House at 6:00pm to a locked front door with a small note instructing us to ring the bell and if no one answered to telephone a number. We rang -- no one. We telephoned the number -- no one answered. Tried the bell, knocked, and telephoned again. Nothing.
Just as we were about to leave and call Hotels.com, an elderly lady answered the front door. She could only speak Chinese and grew frustrated that we could not understand her. Two teenage boys, texting in a darkened parlour gave us the number of the manager, whom we telephoned. She told us which room was our. Dazed and confused, we were shown to the 'President' room, which had obviously seen better days. There were no towels, which the lady then begrudgingly got for us, Tired and hungry, we went out for dinner.
Returning later that night, we had trouble getting in the front door because the combination number we had been given had been changed while we were out (!) and we were horrified to find that sheets on our made bed had not been changed from whoever had been there before. Disgusted and too late to find another hotel, we slept in our clothes.
A terrible experience. Service was terrible. The facilities weren't clean and we did not feel safe since there were uncommunicative men in the house who seemed to live there. We have stayed in a lot of hotels, B&Bs and guests houses over the years and this is the worst we've ever experienced. Not recommended at all.
The house was stunning and the century home charm wowed me... I love this place!
could’ve been updated with the light bulbs/plugs that didn’t work in the room.
Impressed with the size and cleanliness
So not good from beginning , bed sheets not ready, overwhelmed by air fresheners, poor wifi, towels felt like sand paper, sparse furniture, no where to put your things in the bathroom, no bedside lamps , as to get up at 4 am and had to ask the landlords mother to be quiet as she was yelling at her teenage grandson outside our bedroom door at 10;30 pm !!! Not impressed! Also would it be too much to ask for a drinking glass for bathroom tap water????
The room was big so was the bathroom i liked it here ill be coming back for sure next time i stay over night in Hamilton

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
The front entrance was the only thing that was acceptable. The room was not cleaned, dust on the dresser dirty carpet someone else’s belongings in dresser drawers, a pill found on the dresser a camera up in the ceiling corner and the bed was horrible. The bed had a indent that sucked you into the middle and a lot of lint balls on the mattress itself, you can tell it was a old mattress. I have never stayed in a place this dirty and was not even worth $90 for a night. The bathroom had no toilet paper the mirror was dirty and the garage was full. Completely Unimpressed

pros and cons
I was guided to a room that was absolutely different from the picture. The owner said there was some mistake. It was a bit of a problem since the new room caused some problems with my health issue.
And the room was 50% more expansive then it's the lowest price even though it was totally out of peak season.
The place was clean and the ower was kind though.
The location is great. The house was not clean their was food left in a slow cooker from the time i checked in to almost the time we left and their was rice sitting on the stove for 2 days. The kitchen floor was a mess my wife and myself sweep the floor afew times. the grabge container was over flowing the shower in the basement the tiles were broken the shower its self looks like it never gets clean. When i was their a lady booked a room but left due to mold in the room she booked with no window.
