Com a falta de uso o castelo foi-se degradando. Recentemente foi recuperado e classificado como Monumento Nacional. É também considerado Patrimônio Mundial pela UNESCO. Um lugar cheio de história e que foi berço de Portugal. Não é à toa que em um pedaço da muralha original tem os dizeres “Aqui nasceu Portugal”. The Castle of Guimarães began with a monastery built by Mumadona Dias in the 10th century, before, therefore, the formation of Portugal. As the attacks of the Moors were frequent they decided to build a wall to protect the community and the monks that lived inside. It was this fort that gave origin to the Castle of Guimarães. Later, in the twelfth century, it was in this castle that Dom Afonso Henriques was born. Some years after he would become the first king of Portugal. With the lack of use the castle was degrading. Recently it was recovered and classified as National Monument. It is also considered World Heritage by UNESCO. A place full of history and that was cradle of Portugal. It is no wonder that in a piece of the original wall has the words "Here was born Portugal".

we did late-check-in. but the way that pass the key was really irresponsible and NOT safe, I think. I didnt realize her contact & 24hour contact didn't work, so we took long time to check-in (Guimaraes might be a safe place, but...😥😫) Also "the reception opens at 10am" is too late. the price is really reasonable if guests don't do late-check-in.

A estadia correu bem, sem sobressaltos, dentro do esperado. O inconveniente que ocorreu gerou-se a partir do exterior. O barulho do cortejo das festas Gualterianas (aqueles tambores...) não deixava ninguém dormir enquanto durou, mas foi igualmente uma agradável surpresa ter uma noção da natureza destas festas. Nada mais a assinalar.

Charmerende lille guesthouse med perfekt beliggenhed ifh til byens fantastisk hjerte. Meget hjælpsomme og smilende personale. Lækker klassisk morgenkomplet serveret på samme charmerende måde som resten af husets koncept. Vi parkerede i parkeringshus, 2 min. derfra til 5 euro for 2 dage. Vi kan anbefale at spise lokalt på nabo restauranten “Taberna Trovador” hvis man vil spise autentisk portugisisk veltillavet mad.

Very comfortable bed & spacious room! The receptionist was very nice & very helpful!! Would definitely recommend this place. The only thing I would recommend is for the property to fix their amenities. Parking is not included and we had to pay for street parking.

Nous avons découvert un ensemble de maison typique où sont installées plusieurs chambres. Les chambres sont modernes et décorées avec bon goût. Même si toutes les chambres sont agréables, essayez de demander la chambre 19, elle est particulièrement bien décorée. L’accueil a été très agréable et le petit déjeuner servi à table par une équipe très sympa.

Great guest house! The facilities are very new and super clean. The location is very convenient as it is right in the center, but on a quiet cosy little square, so you don't hear any noise. Easy to reach from the train station too. The staff is awesome and very helpful.

Hotel muy agradable, el personal genial. Habitación limpia. Camas y almohadas no muy cómodas. Lavabo tan pequeño que no puedes ni lavarte la cara. Nos tocó la habitación de arriba del todo, no tiene ascensor. Poca insonorización, se oye todo dentro del hotel. Habitación bonita, perfecta ubicación.

Originally some problems in identifying where to check in (it is the building opposite the entrance). Stylish room (not a 90 square meter room) in an historical and top refurbished building. No handheld showerhead in the bathroom (like in the US), which I personally very much dislike.

Location is very convenient (near downtown). To our surprise, Expedia.com didn't (or doesn't at all) inform the owner that we booked a unit with kitchen. Fortunately, we were given a choice of the room and chose one in the attic, spacious, with kitchen and with a view above the roof. Note: this room is only suitable for fit people as the staircase is very steep. Also be aware of low ceiling. In the hall and in the room there are volumes of nicely illustrated history of Portugal pertaining to different periods. Even those not fluent in Portugese as ourselves can take advantage of the pictures. Overall we enjoyed the stay.

Estadia obrigatória! Excelente mesmo.

A estadia foi muito boa, pessoas de confiança, super simpáticas. O espaço é excelente, muito acolhedor, muito giro e limpinho. É pena que sempre que andamos o chão abana um bocado e faz algum barulho mas fora isso foi uma experiência muito boa. O meu quarto tinha vista para o Jardim Publico da Alameda que era uma vista muito gira.

Buon rapporto qualità prezzo ed ubicazione vicina al centro con facilità di trovare parcheggio. Unica nota negativa è che la stanza che ci è stata assegnata la num 1 si trova sopra un esercizio pubblico che emetteva vapori ed odori dalla cucina. Lo sfogo era proprio vicino alla finestra. Inoltre vi era vociare fino a notte fonda che ha disturbato il sonno.
