The hotel is perfectly located between Malmö and Stockholm and makes an ideal stop if you’re travelling between the 2 cities as we often do. Peaceful with beautiful views! It’s hard to believe you’re so close to the motorway. Friendly staff who are always welcoming. A characteristic main building and a great breakfast. Plenty of chargers on site which is a bonus if you own an electric car. Stayed here many times and will definitely be back!

Beautiful hotel in a spectacular setting. Staff were welcoming and helpful, especially Anette who really went the extra mile giving us a tour of the chapel and wine cellar. Great meal in the restaurant and hearty breakfast the following morning. Highly recommended.

Beatiful place in Gränna by the lake Vättern

Beautiful and functional cottage in the hotel premises with an amazing view! Great breakfast and excellent service. Everyone in staff were super friendly and helpful. The cottages are modern, highly recommended for small families! Even barbeque facilities included. Everything worked super well.

Great Hotel near the E4, beautiful view over the Lake and nice walks nearby. We booked a cabin, very pretty and also private. Stayed here for one night on our way further north with 2 adults and one kid. You can hear the cars from the E4, but that did not disturb us too much. Inside the cabin you do not hear them. Breakfast good, Service nice, everything clean.

Great location, not top class hotel

Beautiful hotel in a convenient location, when you need a stop a long the lake. The interior in the main house looked stylish, but a bit simpler in the houses we lived in. Rooms were fine and the view from our room was amazing. The area towards the lake had good trails for walking. We had to skip the restaurant, because the a la carte menu was boring, and you could not sit in the restaurant - that required a full 3 course menu. We found a great restaurant in the town instead.

The main building of the Gyllene Uttern looks like a Scandinavian castle. Perched high above Lake Vättern, it has a grand view of the lake, whether from a large terrace, one of its several lounging spaces, a glassed-in dining room, or from rooms facing the lake. It also has a baronial dining room, in which the very good breakfast buffet is laid out. We dined there in the evening, as well, and the food was excellent. We enjoyed comfortable suites overlooking the lake. The one disadvantage is that the old, castle-like hotel does not have an elevator, which made carrying up luggage a challenge, especially as we three couples were of ages 60 to 82. There was no indication of staff to assist with the luggage, which is the reason I gave "Staff & Service" 4 stars instead of 5. It has two newer two-story auxiliary buildings, which do have elevators. We have stayed in these before. The rooms are very comfortable, but not as charming as staying in a pseudo castle.

Charming but needs some shaping up

+Staff was super friendly and professonal. nice room (top suite) with view. Comfortable beds, quite. - no toothpaste in reception. pillow way too small and flat, when asked for more, could only provide 2 extra pillows even though hotel was pretty emtpy. Glass shatter on bathroom floor. Too hot in rooms (due to no AC and too many insects outdoors). Breakfast could be better.
