We stayed here 4 years ago. It’s dated but perfect for our stay. The view was magnificent. The room was very spacious and made our 4 night stay very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again. TBH the prices for our race meetings at Cartmel were on the steep side. Prices to stay at the Cumbria Grand go up about £200 for a4 night stay because of the racing. Hoping to get a better deal next year. All in all enjoyed our stay. Bev & Dave

Property with beautiful from the outside but once inside would need a total refurbish The room was dirty carpets hadn't been vacuumed the whole of my stay Windows were dirty in my room Cobwebs hanging from ceiling Nothing was cleaned in the room each day Spoons for coffee were put back dirty Bar and restaurant Staff good Breakfast good but had dinner there on last night and they didn't have or ran out of mains on the restaurant menu

The hotel is old and looks neglected .The rooms are clean and functional, nothing more. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bar area is nice and spacious with a good selection of food and drinks. Breakfast is definitely the highlight with a good selection of continental and hot food. The service was good. The lift is dodgy. Gardens and grounds can do with some maintenance and a clean up.

The hotel was conveniently placed about 10 minutes walk to the railway station and 15-20 minutes walk into the town. There was plenty of free parking and the hotel is set in nice grounds. The hotel is a grand old building but in places could do with a bit of an upgrade certainly in the rooms where our balcony windows had seen better days. Breakfast was good and a nice hot and cold buffet selection. Plus the service was good. Nice bar area but shut fairly early and apart from Saturday you couldn’t get a drink past about 10.45 pm! all the staff were very pleasant (apart from head bar man who always seemed miserable and couldn’t shut early enough ☹️). Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Everything needs updating. Bathroom facilities only satisfaction and the shower was unsatisfactory. The room was dark and the lighting Best thing about it it was the bed comfortable and large.

Lovely welcome from lady on Reception. A beautiful Victorian building - stunning entrance hall and corridors to rooms. My room, though, could have been cleaner. Comfy bed. I slept well despite a noisy group of people with no etiquette regarding staying in an hotel. The grounds are stunning - you really are in the midst of nature.

Staff were fantastic very accommodating, the bathroom was very tired mould on the shower door. Evening meal was nice however the food was just warm, as was breakfast. I think this hotel has been very grand in it's day, with a few changes this could be so much better.

It did what it said on the tin. I would definitely go back there again. It was a fairly basic room, but that’s what we paid for. The hotel is a lovely building and has a nice restaurant and bar. Clean and quiet. Couldn’t ask for much more apart from a few frills, which I didn’t pay for anyway.

It’s a neat Victorian Era hotel. Beautiful views of the ocean. Gorgeous property. The waiter at dinner and breakfast was wonderful. Food was good. The hotel needs some $ put into it, but, it’s still a grand place to spend a few days.
