Charming family owned hotel, friendly staff.

Lovely traditional style hotel on the side of the lake with beautiful views. We had a great room which was more like a suite so we could chill after each days long walks. The staff were very friendly, relaxed and helpful, and they made the trip special as it was my husband's birthday. It also seemed like a lot of the locals came to eat there. Charming all round.

My room was a kind of isolated one, which window side was just infront of building wall. So, you need to make a reservation for lake-view side.

herrlicher seeblick

das hotel liegt nur durch eine uferstraße vom see getrennt.es ist zugang zum see vorhanden mit liegestühlen.mittag- und abendessen kann man auf einer sehr schönen terasse einnehmen. die speisekarte ist sehr umfangreich. das hotel ist sehr gepflegt und sauber. desgleichen die zimmer mit oder ohne seeblick. gerne komme ich wieder.

Ruhiges, jedoch sehr zentral gelegenes Landhotel am Traunsee. Sehr aufmerksames, freundliches Personal und eine engagierte Eigentümer-Familie. Perfekt sind auch der eigene Badestrand und Parkplatz am Hotel. Der neu errichtete Wintergarten und die tolle Seeterrasse laden ins Restaurant ein. Das Familienzimmer ist großzügig gestaltet.

Ein Hotel zum Wohl fühlen

Traumhafte Lage mit Balkon und Blick auf den Traunsee. Das Restaurant bietet eine hervorragende Küche mit guten Preisen. Das Personal ist freundlich und die die Zimmer sind groß und sauber. Auch die vielen "Schmökerecken" fand ich sympatisch.

Sehr traditionell - einfache Zimmer - tolle Lage

Hotel is well-situated halfway between the town of Gmunden (1km away) and the start of the hiking trail (at Gasthof Hois'n) around the Traunstein, which I highly recommend if you're fit enough. It's also just a few feet from the lake and has its own bathing area, which is quite important as most of the coast is privatized. I really appreciated the cold-drinks vending machine (including good beer) for guests. Breakfast was very good. The restaurant is equally important as the hotel - it's very popular and a bit noisy in the evenings. It serves only traditional dishes from the region, reasonably priced. Service is efficient and polite but not particularly friendly. If the weather is nice, a dinner on the terrace at sunset is wonderful. Arriving in the evening, the staff will be primarily busy with the restaurant, so don't expect the reception to offer much information, not even the wifi code, unless you ask for it.

Fine view, spacious, clean room

When I visited this hotel (August 2017), it could be accessible from Gmunden railway station by a combination of a city tram (from the station as far as Franz-Josef-Platz) and a special electric bus (from Josef -Platz to the stop right in front of the hotel). The latter is free of charge for hotel guests, but it is only available after 11:00 a.m. (Note this info is always subject to changes, partly because the renovation of the local transportation network seems now under way.) Apparently most rooms face the lake, with an excellent view. From my room, I could see a beautiful medieval castle on the other side of the lake, which is one of the most popular tourist attractions around this lake. The room was clean and spacious with wooden flooring.
