This is a one of a kind small hotel that has been beautifully restored and decorated. The accompanying restaurant is superb and both are very reasonably priced. An amazing stay at an amazing price!

Good afternoon. We were surprised to read the rating of 1/5 you gave us on Internet. We never receive ratings that bad. Can you explain us what went wrong since the message you sent us on Sunday “It’s been perfect for a walk and outside lunch. We have had a very short but special stay in your lovely home. We will be back. Thank you. Enjoy France and a Happy new year to you.”

Lovely hotel - and very welcoming.
Daniel and Catherine were very welcoming and made us feel very much at home. Our room was very clean and tastefully furnished. The staff - particularly Pilar - were friendly and extremely helpful. The restaurant was excellent. What more is there to say? 😊

The views from our room were incredible. The history behind the property just adds to its charm. Parking was a minor challenge. Not having a staff person on site was disappointing.

Thank you so much for your positive feedback. Having only 6 rooms makes it economically not viable to have staff on site 24/7. This is why we insist to know the arrival time of our guests ahead of time so that one of us can be on site to welcome them.

This location is a hidden gem just up the mountain from Marbella. We happened to stay on their gastronomic weekend when all restaurants participate in what we would call in the states "restaurant week". Daniel, the manager/owner kept us well informed for our arrival. Staff, Pilar in particular, was wonderful. Very accommodating. The restaurant at the hotel had fabulous food and wonderful breakfast buffet with fresh made croissants. The only issue is parking if you have a car. Spaces near the hotel are very limited and for compact cars. We did find a spot about 3 minutes walk from the hotel. We would go back in a heartbeat to explore the town of Gaucin.

Chambre spacieuse et confortable mais installations sanitaires un peu démodées. Accueil peu chaleureux. Petit-déjeuner très moyen et cher (12€). Pas de fabrication maison, pas de bio, yaourts 0% sans goût...

Nous sommes désolés que le petit déjeuner ne vous ai pas plu. Nous servons du pain du village, des céréales bio, une salade de fruits frais faite maison, du jus d'orange frais, du café fraichement moulu préparé avec une machine Jura, un choix de thé de chez Fortnum & Mason, du jambon de première qualité, du fromage de la région, des fruits.. Il est probable qu'il n'y ait plus eu que des yaourts 0% sur le buffet quand vous êtes descendus pour déjeuner (certains de nos clients désirent ce type de yaourts), mais si vous nous l'aviez demandé, nous nous aurions fait un plaisir de vous servir un autre type de yaourt. Nos salles de bains ont été refaites il y a trois ans et nous avons choisi de ne pas en faire des salles de bains hyper modernes, mais au contraire de leur laisser un charme désuet et campagnard. Quant à l'accueil, il est vrai que vous êtes arrivés un triste jour de pluie, tard dans l'après-midi, qui plus est le jour de fermeture de notre restaurant, et que vous êtes repartis le lendemain matin sans avoir pu profiter de nos terrasses, de notre belle vue et du charme de notre village. Je regrette que votre séjour ne vous ai pas laissé un meilleur souvenir.

A gift from the Andalusian hotel Gods
As an ex bbc travel journalist, I’ve had the privilege and pleasure of staying in many hotels around this beautiful planet. I can honestly say La Fructuosa is up there. Small simple yet magical. It truely is a gift from the Andalusian Gods of Gaucin. Everything owners Catherine and Daniel have done during renovations a few years ago has been stylishly and artisticly achieved with a beautiful duvet of love. My one disappointment is that I only got to page 5 of the short Basil Faultyesk book Daniel wrote during lockdown. It’s very funny!! A good reason to go back and finish it. Bravo to the Belgium couple for creating something so special 🙏

Fantastiskt hotell - en riktig pärla!
Detta tvåstjärniga hotell är helt fantastiskt! Hotellet och frukosten var toppen. Lägg sedan till den fantastiska utsikten!! Vi såg ända bort till Gibraltar, Ceuta och Marocko! Alla rummen är individuellt inredda och man bokar det rum man vill ha. Underbara allihop - vi tog en tur runt då vi en dag var de enda gästerna. Personalen - Pilar hon tog hand om oss som om vi var hennes familj! Restaurangen var fantastisk!! Över förväntan. God och vällagad mat och därtill viner. Välkomnande och fantastisk personal. Fin miljö! Vi gick dit båda våra kvällar i Gaucin för varför frångå ett vinnande koncept? Är ni i Gaucin missa INTE denna pärla.

Unique walkable town of Gaucín, but the charm was all with the hotel and friendly staff! Stopped here for two nights on our honeymoon visiting southern Spain and it’s so worth it. Plan ahead and book some reservations for restaurants in town as well, that was our one mistake as things fill up! Amazing experience and can’t wait to come back!

A very pleasant stay.
We had a very pleasant experience at this charming rural hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable, with stunning views of the countryside and the Straits of Gibraltar. It’s the ideal place, if you crave peace and quiet. The breakfast was very good and the dinner was fantastic, the best we had in Gaucín. The owners were also extremely polite and helpful, so much so that, on our departure, we had to get a taxi at 9.15 am, and they offered to prepare breakfast for us at 8.30, even though the official time was between 9 and 11 am. The hotel is also very well located, as it is just 2 minutes away from the centre, where many of the restaurants are.

Almospheric experience. Delightful hosts.
Despite major building work in the area made most welcome. Unable to get car to the hotel- this will improve. Foolishly chose a stopover when the restaurant was closed- Daniel phoned a nearby one and booked us in. The breakfast was outstandingly good in every way. We enjoyed the personal attention of the hosts. The hotel is some 150 years old so facilities are commensurate but not a problem with the attention of the owners. We would certainly recommend this to our friends.
