Scenic grounds. Our room (Mississippi Suite) was beautiful with a lovely view. The screened in deck was a bonus (comfortable furniture included). Breakfast delivered to our room was so yummy. We enjoyed a delicious dinner on site that definitely impressed. Only a short drive to downtown Galena. We will definitely return

The property is beautiful. We had a Victorian style room on the ground floor. We were surprised how big the room was and the whirlpool tub was amazing. The only negative was the uncomfortable bed. Other than that our stay was wonderful.

This was a bit more than we typically spend for accommodations, but it was so worth every penny, there was not one thing I would have changed about our room (we stayed in the first lady suite) the owner was present and very accommodating and you could tell the employees really enjoyed their job...it was all smiles and good attitudes! Galena is a fun little getaway! We will go back!

Overall, the front desk staff were not very welcoming or helpful or interested in greeting or answering questions or giving information about the hotel. We had to kind of figure things out by ourselves. Looking closely at the room, decor, and the dead bugs in the window and the decor and the restaurant you get a cheaper vibe for the enormous price you pay for this place. Our worst experience was The Edge restaurant. Very overpriced and disappointing for what is marketed as a high-end dining experience. We had a 7:30 reservation, but our food did not arrive until about 25 minutes before the restaurant closed. Our waiter apologized several times for the delay, but by the time we finally received our meal, staff were already watching the tables and we felt rushed to finish. The food itself was also subpar. We both ordered the Beef Wellington, one of the most expensive dishes on the menu, and both steaks were undercooked. Normally we would have sent them back, but after waiting so long and receiving our food so close to closing, we didn’t feel we had time. The asparagus served with it was so tough it was almost inedible. Our reservation also included a seating request that was completely ignored, even though the seats we requested remained vacant. Instead, we were placed in a dining room with cheap, generic hotel-style decor that felt completely out of place for a restaurant charging these prices.

Couples retreat

The Goldmoor was a great place for a couple's getaway. The griunds are well kept and the hotel is well appointed and serene.
