Ok this was not what we expected. We expected to stay in the building shown on Expedia's website (the Grand Hotel). However we were relagated to the service building which does have four units on three floors. Unfortunately (I've had this experience before when booking with Expedia) it felt like we were given the backroom on the third floor. Upon opening the window our view was dumpsters. But to be fair in the distance were lemon and orange trees and a nice view of the sea. There was also an issue with no heat. The management told us that we were there on the shoulder season so the main facilities were closed (so was the heat). Go figure. (Expedia intervened) -- They moved us to a lower unit and somehow with computerized thermostats cooked us at night. We could not easily manage the temperature in the room. The shower was so small (maybe 2.5 x 2.5 feet). Do not consider if your are larger person. You cannot bend over to wash your legs or feet. The actual town is close by. Great boardwalk and many restaurant options. But be careful traveling on shoulder seasons. Almost all museums, art centers are closed. Parking is at a distance from all buildings. Walkways are difficult with paving and suitcases.

Posizione decentrata dal centro di Gaeta. Struttura di una bellissima villa con parco ben tenuto,l ricco di una varietà di essenze differenti. Grande piscina che nei periodi estivi sicuramente è in bel plus. Camere grandi e silenziose. Servizi igienici ben curati.

A lovely hotel with a beautiful pool
The hotel is beautiful and the pool was the highlight of our stay (I wish the pool stayed open later). We had a large room with a private balcony which was quite nice. We definitely would have appreciated a bit of help with our luggage, particularly since the elevator stopped at the floor below our room, but other than that, we didn’t have any complaints.

Superbe séjour à l'hôtel Villa Irlanda! Les lieux, le parc et la piscine sont magnifiques. Le personnel était très sympathique et à notre disposition au besoin. Nous avons même pu bénéficier d'un surclassement. Merci pour ce séjour!

dalla Reception alla mia stanza più di 400 passi , percorrendo vialetti di ciottoli in salita che costringono a tenere la valigia sollevata da terra per evitare che si danneggino le ruote della stessa , La camera oltre ad avere il pavimento non lavato accuratamente , era umida ( siamo ai primi di settembre con ancora temperature elevate forte umidità) malgrado ci fosse la possibilità di azionare il condizionatore prima dell'arrivo del cliente e quindi far trovare la stanza più confortevole, ...dopo la mia richiesta al portiere di turno di lasciarlo andare durante la cena avvenuta fuori dalla struttura per circa un paio d'ore, , la stanza è rimasta comunque per tutto il tempo con il condizionatore spento,,,complimenti !!!! chi ha dato 4 stelle sicuramente non è stato molto attento a valutare con attenzione e serietà come si dovrebbe fare......naturalmente la stanza non era per niente regalata....anzi .....Mai più !!!!!!!!!!!!

Pretty buildings but needs massive modernisation.
Extremely expensive food options, minibar, no water or amenities in room, unusable wifi. No bellhop service available on arrival. Nice buildings and clean, but haven't been upgraded since the early nineties. A single power point hidden behind the bed in the room. Need complete modernisation. 2*

We stayed one night only because we did not see many things to do around Gaeta on the internet. Yet, I wanted to be there for my birthday. It is a nice quiet town. There are some medieval buildings. Unfortunately, I programmed only one day there which I now regret. I had a great time. The hotel is nice and I like the garden of orange trees . The staff was great and very helpful, I had a problem where I took the wrong bus. I called Simona and she saved the day. Thank you very much we had a great time.

Purtroppo il mio giudizio positivo si limita alla pulizia, alla qualità degli asciugamani e alla bellezza della piscina. Per il resto molte note dolenti, a partire da una stanza a dir poco datata e scarna, un'insonorizzazione delle stanze completamente assente, una struttura in generale antica e triste, completamente inadatta a persone con un seppur minima difficoltà di movimento. La nota maggiormente negativa riguarda il ristorante, non degno di questo nome, con portate al limite del commestibile ed un servizio al tavolo affidato ad una persona incapace di interagire con il cliente e far fronte alle problematiche.

La struttura è studiata come villaggetto, quindi per un soggiorno vacanziero estivo in cui il trasferimento a piedi dal posteggio alle varie strutture (camere, ristotante, reception, sala colazioni) può risultare piacevole. Diverso è in inverno con la pioggia diversi fare il giro dei quattro cantoni per arrivare in camera o cercare la sala colazioni. Camera spaziosa ma assolutamente datata.

Das Beste an der Anlage ist der Garten und die enorm große Poolanlage. Unser Zimmer war Okay, der Schrank ist für zwei Personen zu klein. Das Badezimmer ist in die Jahre gekommen. Die Zimmerfrauen wechseln täglich die Bettwäsche und Handtücher, das ist nicht mehr zeitgemäß, das sollte der Gast selbst entscheiden, wie es in den meisten Hotels üblich ist. Das Hotel hat keinen Sandstrand sondern einen Badesteg und vor dem Haus ist eine sehr gut befahrene Straße. Das Frühstück war ausreichend aber leider fehlte die Abwechslung. Das Restaurant war sehr gut und das Personal sehr freundlich.

Una bella sosta
Consigliato per una fuga romantica, un posto di passaggio per andare a Ponza o una vacanza tranquilla. Colazione ricca e ben organizzata! Camera pulita e spaziosa, aria condizionata poco efficiente, ma tutto sommato esperienza positiva.

Excellent Villa Irlanda.
A lovely hotel. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The pool is outstanding, huge with an adjoining hydro pool and feels very private. Delicious breakfast,lunch and dinner. The hotel stands in beautiful gardens with lemon trees galore. The hotel has its own promenade by the seafront. The staff were superb. Highly recommended.

Villa Irlanda is a jewel on the coast with an impressive garden and view of the Gulf of Gaeta; I was there many times twenty years ago, returning today as a stop and go on my journey to Amalfi Coast. The place is kept in proper conditions as it was, some (minor) defects remain: parking lots are still not paved, and the food at the restaurant not to the level I remembered, missing, probably due to the covid-19 the gorgeous buffet. Everything else is perfect.
