This hotel/motel was once a nice place. The foyer is still decent looking if you don’t look too close but enjoy it because that’s the only thing about this place that passes as decent. It has been let go and is now a filthy mess. Not only that but it’s extremely hard to get to a room on the second floor. There is no elevator. You must drag your suitcase up several sets of stairs to get to a long corridor filled with the filthiest carpet I’ve seen in a public space. Travelers with children or elderly in their party just need to avoid this place. Once in the room it looks like your typical run down Motel 6. The room has a coffee maker that doesn’t work but it’s just as well because there is no water or cups to make it anyway and only one packet of coffee for a double room. The city water is still not potable so be sure to bring some with you. On to the bathroom. I hope you have had your tetanus shot recently because if you enter the bathroom you will need it. Truck stop bathrooms in the 70’s were undoubtedly cleaner than this one. The level of filth in the hallway should have been a warning sign but nothing prepared me for that floor. It had a layer of nasty build up you can only get by constantly neglecting cleaning. Just built up grime and the grout around the tub was black with it. I wiped the toilet and sink area with bleach cleaner and we made the best of it and just sponged off because there was no way I would have gotten in the shower. 0/10 stars

Advertised there was a restaurant and bar but they were both closed. The buildings & room old & shabby but the room was clean. This place is spread out. First room was all the way around the back and it was not cleaned. Do we drive back up and got another room down a long shabby hallway. Good they show you just the reception area.

We booked two connecting rooms two weeks in advance, but when we arrived, they told us no connecting rooms were available. We waited for an hour and a half, tried to speak with a manager, but none was available, and no solution was offered. In the end, we had to change hotels. Very frustrating experience and poor customer service.

Looks like it can be a nice hotel, but we didnt have water the entire stay (were told it was a burst pipe, but that it should only be off an hour). Went to the bar and was rushed out before 8pm by the bartender after being there maybe 20 minutes due to it "being a slow night not worth keeping the bar open". We weren't offered anything for the inconveniences.

I rented the room to stay the night since we had already been traveling for 15 hours that day. When we got to the room I turned on the shower and ran it for a few minutes but it was not getting hot. I called the front desk and she sent a maintenance man but it took several minutes before he got there. He touched the water and tried to gaslight me and said "oh it's warm". I touched the water again to check and I said no it's not even close to being warm it's super cold. He then left our hotel and contacted the front desk and lied and said that the water was hot now. I walked up to the front desk and told them that the water was extremely cold and asked to be moved to another room. She moved me to another room but the water in there was also extremely cold and not even getting close to being warm. There was also no towels in either of these rooms. My husband and I ended up leaving and did not stay the night.

Staff was great! Only issue was check in was at 4 but when we arrived around 5 no rooms were ready yet and we didn’t get our keys until after 6. Really put a damper on dinner plans since timing was thrown off. But again, front desk staff were great. Not their fault

It sounds like you had a mostly positive experience! Here's a summary of your review: --- We had a wonderful stay! The room was spacious, comfortable, and spotless, with a lovely patio that allowed us to enjoy some fresh air. The bathroom was a bit dated but clean and roomy. Parking was ample and easily accessible. The check-in process was straightforward, although there were no elevators, so travelers with lots of luggage should keep that in mind. The lobby was beautiful and perfect for relaxing, and the bar exuded old-fashioned elegance with great entertainment. However, the restaurant didn't quite meet expectations—average food at high prices, and the wait staff were not very attentive. Despite that, our overall experience was excellent, and we would choose to stay here again.

The hotel is decorated like a hunting lodge. It’s very warm and inviting. The rooms are large and comfortable. I liked the patio door . It made it very easy to exit the building and get to my truck. It was very quiet. The location is excellent. It’s only a few blocks from I-10. There’s some good restaurants right across the street. It’s about 25 minutes from Fredericksburg. All in all a nice place with a reasonable price.

Front desk man wasn’t nice, complaining how he was ready to go home, very unprofessional in my opinion. Bar says it closes at 11pm, walked down to get a drink at 10:18 and the bartender had already shut down for the night. Then wake up and there’s absolutely no breakfast like it says on the site. Very dissatisfied with my stay and will refrain from staying again. I’m also the type of person that never likes to leave bad reviews. Hotel is beautiful, but things need to reflect what you advertise and staff needs to be respectful and present the entire shift.
