DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!!! A TOTAL SCAM!!! We went there within check in hours and no one was there to check us in. There were also about 6-7 other families there also waiting to check in. We left after an hour of waiting as we had plans that we had to get to and had to go pay for another hotel. So along with The Caroline having our money we had to pay for a more expensive place since it was spring break the city was busy. The Caroline then could have rented our place out to someone else as they wouldn’t give us a refund. While we were waiting there all around was broken furniture there so hardly any place to sit down. We were dropped off by our driver from our flight and had to wait and then get another ride to another hotel which also costed us more money. Terrible terrible place to book.

We got a message notifying us the check-in time started at 3 p.m. We arrived and the hotel was closed. No one answered the call. Luckily, the Expedia staff was able to refund our money since he wasn't able to reach the hotel staff himself.

Absolutely terrible. I get there and the person tells me that they don't have a room for me even though I booked 2 months in advance because the room is infested with bed bugs. Not only that, but I had to wait 45 minutes just to have somebody tell me I couldn't stay there and was left wandering around in the rain scrambling for a place to stay. Never even stayed there but they took my money

It was a nice-sized place. The office hostess was very friendly. The bed was clean and comfortable. If you stay here you'll need to bring your own cleaning supplies and be prepared to scrub the floors, clean the shower. No towels, washclothes, kitchen linens, toilet paper, broom were provided. There was no TV or wifi or heat in the room. Office was only open between noon and 6pm. If you arrive after 6pm you cannot get in. Only one the four heating elements on the stove worked. This place is in a great location, but definitely needs some tender loving care. The broken lawn chairs, unmowed yard, and missing fire extinguisher replaced by a can of beer says it all!

Not recommended - prepaid, arrived at 8 pm, and the place was closed; other guests were also left without a room - no reply by phone, text, or any other means of communication - we had to fight to get our money back from Expedia - FRAUD ? - in tghe end we had to find another place to stay for the same night much more expensive - extremely bad experience

Absolutely everything about the place was terrible The ad is a total lie The place is a garbage dump Everything was moldy busted broken no Toiletries The toilet paper roller was busted off the wall all the furniture was broken No towels No wash cloths no soap No shampoo The TV was broken didn't work the Wi-Fi didn't work The kitchen was a disgusting disgrace I want my money back The place wasn't worth ten dollars the furniture outside was all broken The parking lot was very small and part of the city And you have to pay to park there The girl spoke Spanish only at the front desk I slept with my gun under my pillow all night, people banging on things out side till late night! there was mold in all the corners, the shower curtain was filthy, the tub was dirty, I wouldn't let a dog live there!!

People live here!!!This location is NOT what you think.Very run down , check in office is only open from 3pm to 6pm after 6pm you loose your check in time. There’s a sign in the window that says apartments for rent., there was somebody that was living in one of the apartments that was sitting in a beat up old chair on the sidewalk outside their apartment door. I walked around to look the place over and there was another guy sitting on a curb on property . The landscraping hasnt been done in months maybe years. This old run down hotel is a beat up old apartment now that you also rents some rooms for the night. The only positive thing that I have to say about this place is when I asked for my refund because I was going to refuse to stay there Expedia got my refund for me. There was no struggle and for that I appreciate Expedia and the staff at Carolina for not fighting or arguing with me.

The Caroline cancelled our stay and everyone else's the night we were to check in. This resulted us paying 3 times the cost to book another room last minute. Maybe not their fault if water or sewer pipes burst, but no offer of compensation either.

Room and grounds in really bad shape, and the property manager (?) had a key and tried to get in and banged on door after we were asleep and told us we were not supposed to be there and yelled. We felt threatened. We had stayed here before and loved the place, but it was a terribly uncomfortable experience. Willing to overlook the lack of towels and top sheet and beat-up furniture, broken windows, missing curtains etc. because we saw the place was going through a tough time and wanted it to make it (didn't want to write a bad review), but after someone with a key trying to get in late at night and reviewing the whole of it, we have to, especially because we lost $ on our prepaid 2nd and third nights because we could not continue our stay. The pictures on the website are nothing like reality. So sad.

My stay at The Caroline was extremely disappointing. The property feels neglected and outdated, more like a 1960s roadside motel that’s never been properly cleaned or maintained. The first room I was given was filthy — dirty floors, debris in the bathroom, and even shoe prints on the bed sheets. There were no towels, no soap, and no hot water. Some electrical outlets looked damaged or burned, and several pieces of furniture were broken or stacked in a corner. The main window was shattered and covered by a mirror and curtain, which was both unsafe and deceptive. None of the listed amenities — no TV, no Wi‑Fi, no microwave — were actually available. I took numerous photos After complaining, that day and the next day I was told nothing was avaialble. After complaining again I was moved to another room the next day that was cleaner but still missing advertised features. The kitchenette had only a few items, and even then, the space hadn’t been fully cleaned. Overall, The Caroline was not as described on Expedia and did not meet basic hospitality standards. I would not recommend this property and believe a refund is warranted.
