"We had confirmed reservation and the hotel gave our rooms away. The front desk lady just walked out at 6, closing the reception. There was no assistance. We we stranded on the parking on new years eve and needed 3 hours to find accommodation. Expedia couldn’t find any booking too as everything was sold out. We somehow found a local hostel. There were other guests too who had similar experience and were stranded. Do not recommend this business. "

Hotel Club Del Mar

Jacó

10/10 Excellent

We scheduled the hotel to pick us up at airport. It was so nice to get off a long plane ride and see someone holding a card with your name on it. From SJO to Jaco was in a comfortable Mercedes van with cold water and beer waiting for us. Once we got to Club del Mar, it could not have been any better. The food at restaurant was great, drinks at poolside were cool and refreshing. Every person we met was helpful and kind. I don't want to name them because I would be afraid I would leave someone...

We had a fantastic stay at Encantada. The staff is amazing!!! Kate, Adam, Daniel and the rest of the crew were so friendly, nice and helpful. The rooms were comfy and right on the beach. You can walk the beach for miles. The food was WONDERFUL!!! Try the banana pancakes! The reviews that were not very positive on Tripadvisor are from years ago and I believe with a different owner. We stayed at 6 different hotels during our visit to Costa Rica because we wanted to experience the entire...

Pumilio Mountain & Ocean Hotel

Jacó

10/10 Excellent

From the first interaction with Steven in reception (complimentary glass of wine upon arrival), to their willingness to help. I had a race and was not able to take advantage of their buffet breakfast, however the kitchen was kind enough to prepare me a plate of food that was amazing upon my return back to the hotel. Rooms were spacious and loved the balcony and kitchen option. Kitchen was equipped, but lacked some basic things like towels for hot pans and a strainer for pasta. It had just one...

Arrived early and given keys to unit 3 hours before regular check in. Office staff friendly and very accomodating. No paperwork and no credit card asked for at check in. Room was amazing. Large rooms nicely furnished. Excellent a/c. TV's in both bedrooms and living room. Huge kitchen with marble counter tops and with lots of utensils and appliances and a supermarket about a 3 minute walk from the complex. A laundry room with washer and dryer. Plenty of towels. A beautiful balcony...

The Backyard Hotel

Jacó

10/10 Excellent

The Backyard is one of those places that you really hesitate to leave a review about because you don’t want everybody to discover your secret spot. After visiting the restaurant over the years we finally decided to stay in the hotel on our last trip and were not disappointed. We have stayed in much fancier places in Costa Rica but prefer the quaint, simple, relaxed quality that the Backyard offers. The staff is fantastic and attentive. The pool is great and the grounds are well kept. The hotel...

Hotel Villa Caletas

10/10 Excellent

I traveled with my son and guest to Costa Rica to experience the country for the first time. Me for the wildlife and escape, my son for the volcanoes. We got EVERYTHING. The hotel was an hour or so from the San Jose airport, offered the conveniences of a resort and provided a peaceful and overwhelmingly beautiful atmosphere. There's something beautiful to see my matter where you look. I wandered through the resort early one morning and saw a white-faced monkey which I will always...

Wonderful small hotel (9 rooms) owned and managed by fun, warm and welcoming couple. The hotel is perfect for people who are looking for peace and quiet ( guest are in their rooms by 10pm) and most of the guest will be tired and ready to bed after the day activities in the sun, by that time. The ocean is across the un paved road in front of the hotel, and its beaches are long as the eyes can see. No umbrellas or beach’s chairs are provided. Bernard is a great chef and he prepared wonderful...
