"Beautiful location with large rooms looking over Grassmere lake. The decor is clean fresh with great choice of colours. Super king bed was very comfortable and room temperature perfect. The artwork on all the walls is enjoyable and like being in a private gallery. Staff were all very informative and friendly, Ronny in the restaurant was particularly great. The food choice for breakfast is plentiful and although dinner menu small the food is beautifully prepared and presented. My only personal comment is that it would have been nice to have included a side of vegetables in the price rather than as an extra. Housekeeping spot on. The spa is spacious with thermal pool ( not really for swimming) sauna and steam room . Lovely after a day of activities. The grounds are well maintained and terrace provides a sunny location to relax and enjoy the views, or if feeling active you can access the lake for a cold water dip or launch your kayak ."

"We found the room and hotel to be quite dated Carpets were dirty and towels had marks on them. We never felt clean during our stay here. It was our first trip to the Lakes and we have been put off returning because of it."

"I stayed in room 65. The room was clean the staff were really helpful. The breakfast was well presented and really nice. We ate there once in the evening and it was great. The spa was really nice. We both had a massage felt really relax. As anyone would tell you there lots to do in the local area, but also good to just relax. I recomend booking the treatment in advance of your stay as its hard to get hold off the massuer."

"We stayed in the Osprey room, a double room, very nicely refurbished. The bed was king sized and quite comfortable. Breakfasts were fine with a nice variety of food offered."

"Our room, on the first floor, was excellent with lovely views. The food was of a high quality and the service was very good except on one of our three evenings when we were forgotten about and it took at least three complaints to get our meal started. On this occasion we were in the restaurant for about two hours and it took 45 minutes before we got our starter. This was a shame because otherwise everything was perfect."

"Fantastic location, great hotel and the staff were absolutely fantastic (particularly Alex and Susan), super friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was tasty with your choice of hot food made to order. I will definitely be staying again in future."
