De locatie ligt midden in de bossen, zeer rustgevend. De eigenaar verwelkomde ons persoonlijk en was extreem vriendelijk. De ruimte zelf was prima en zag er netjes uit, goede prijs-kwaliteit.

Both Ed and Nel really care about what they do. From helping with directions to little things like haveing code doors so you can come and go as you please. However, when booking on traeloicy, make sure you put in the correct amount of guests you plan on having in your room because there is a room rate and then more per person. Second, don't trust your GPS just call Ed. He's far more reliable. This place is perfect for a family spending a week away. However, little creppy with the amount of camera on the property, plus side no one will ever mess with your stuff. It felt more like a bandb then a hotel. Which has its own Perks as well. Only real negative was the breakdown in clearity between Travelocity pricing and what the room actually costs, and no hair conditioner in the room, but again the staff was very patient and helpful. And once you get on the right road it all makes sense.

The property is in a house in the woods and had an Air B&B feel. What was good was that we had a little suite - small kitchen, large sitting room/sleeping area & Bathroom. The property is in a secluded wooded area and very private. We did not know this when we booked, but were pleasantly surprised. I feel that this feature should have been noted on the Expedia page

Being watched

The cabin itself was clean (had stuff in the cabinets that I myself wouldnt want to use) It had a musty, mold smell. The amount of security cameras there was very off putting and uncomfortable. It made us leary that we were being watched inside as well, none of even used the shower for our night stay; for this reason. The hostess, Debbie, that greeted us was very nice and helpful.

Family vacation at Nel's place

Great place to have a family vacation, very large room, located in a forest like zone. Near Corning, with easy access to all the local attraction. The owner and his stuff were very accesible (via whatsapp) and helpful, and sent me detailed driving instructions. Highly recommended.

We wanted a comfortable retreat off the beaten path. This location was perfect. We had a small kitchen with a lovely bedroom and large bath. We appreciated the extra time Debbie spent with us. Our lodging was close to all the things we wanted to do such as going to Watkins Glen State Park, touring vineyards and seeing the Rockwell Museum in Corning.

Corning museum visit

Place was bit difficult to find. GPS directed to take shortest route which was through the woods. Best to follow directions from the lodge and arrive during daylight. Otherwise nice quite location with lots of space. All appliances were provided for easy food preparation. Bedroom was dominated by a large TV whose location by the bed meant it could not be viewed while sitting in bed. A bit of a hodgepodge but fun just the same.

We loved this place!

We loved this place! Nestled in the woods above Corning, it truly felt like we were getting away from it all. The apartment, which it is spacious, very clean has a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. Debbie our hostess is a warm and friendly woman, who took the time to make sure we had everything we needed and how to make the wifi and TV work. We would definitely stay here again.

What a wonderful place.

We had a great time in Nel's place. All staff are very kind, beds are comfortable, kitchen and untensils are very good condition. In the early morning, we took a walk around the house, that is a wonderful experience. We enjoyed and liked the place over all.

Needs a little work

Bed was sub par for hotels. Spent an hour trying to get a national or weather TV station with out success. The drive had mud and bushes that scratched the car. Towel bars about to fall off the wall. Kitchen area poorly lit. I would swap the couch and bed. No cell phone coverage.

A home away from home. A condo surrounded by woods. The furniture was dated but very comfortable. There is a HUGE tv in the bedroom.

basement in the woods

we knew this space would be interesting, but being shown to our damp basement grotto was not what we planned. this was not the room i booked. even in terms of the room as advertised ('nell's industrial') there was no queen bed, there were not 2 bedrooms, there was not even one, though a barn door, uncloseable, had been built to close off a space, i guess. we were greeted by a very nice woman, debbie, who seemed to be filling the role as a manager. she was helpful and pleasant. the space itself was incredibly depressing, smelled of damp and was dark with a prison cell-like window looking out onto the woods. at some point i realized there was a big dog tethered to a 6 foot rope down the driveway. i never saw anyone come to feed him or take him for a walk. i would have just left him alone, but the next morning went to say hello. his fur was matted, the water bowl was empty (i brought down some water from our room), and the area stank with his feces. when i dropped off the key in the envelope that magically appeared when we were away for dinner taped to the outside of the door, i also left note about the dog. 5 minutes after we left i received a text (from nel, i presume) at first thanking me for caring, but asserting (for real!) that unlike most animals, their dog like to live in his feces! a second text became abusive. i felt we were in a criminal minds episode but lived to tell the tale. we were asked in advance to leave "nasty" comments in a book rather than online. weird.

Kind staff but not what I really wanted.

The staff was extremely caring. Unfortunately, this place is out in the woods. There is no front desk and someone had to work overtime just to meet us since we had a late arrival. We could not find the place in the dark and had to call for someone to help. They had to come find us and show us the way. It is like a rustic cabin. For a 1 night stay it isn't worth it. I needed a hair dryer not a kitchen. Also I was a little frustrated when I booked it. I asked for four people and got a price for two and then had additional charges added on with taxes and fees for the other two. I felt this to be somewhat deceptive and not sure whose fault it was. Despite their effort to accomodate us, I would not stay here again. It might be great for a family who was staying several days and could use all the extras that were not much value for a one night stay in the woods.

One of the best places

What a beautiful place. We arrived at the Nel’s Place very late night and were planning to leave early morning. It did not happen – we simply could not leave. I travel extensively around the world and saw many places. This is an absolutely unique place. Forget Marriot and Hilton. You will really feel yourself home! Very clean, spacious, comfortable, cozy, well balanced, very well equipped, quite, etc….. Great personnel. Very professional and tactful, great sense of humor, very polite, intelligent. No doubts – these people love doing what they are doing more than profits.

Horrible place! Arrived but denied by owner!!!

We arrived at Nel's Place at 11:26pm, Jun 15, before check-in time that "ends at midnight." Owner complained us being late and let us wait outside in the rain for 10 minutes. Thing only got worse from here... Owner claimed that we need to pay for the extra guest fee (we had 4 adults, an 8-yo and a 2-yo), despite the online price for 2 or 6 guests were the same on Expedia. Because it was almost midnight and the baby was sleeping, I did not want to argue and agreed to pay by credit card. But the Owner insisted we pay by Expedia credit card only (which we did not possess nor booked the hotel with) just because he's had some 'bad' experience with other guests using invalid credit card before. How can they run hospitality business when making demands like this! We really needed to rest so I suggested to settle payment the next morning but was told we had to pay before we can get in. After 15 min argument, I had to book another room, otherwise I wouldn't be able to do so for the same day after midnight. So we were forced, and eventually chose to leave after I confirmed the new booking. The Owner complained to Expedia all about us being "too late", "rude" and "loud" and even making accusations that my wife "was trying to hit his receptionist." In fact, my wife is 5'2" and was holding a sleeping baby on her shoulder, how would she do anything like that?! The Owner just couldn't stop lying about what really happened! Wish there is more space to write here..but, HORRIBLE PLACE!

Ants in the kitchen

Ants in the kitchen and washroom. Got a few bites while sleeping. This could be easily solved if the owners just bought some ant traps. Nice quiet location though.

Wonderfully unique spot to stay

From friendly and helpful communication ahead of time, to a warm welcome when we arrived, the first thing we noticed was what a personal connection we had in a time of so many impersonal exchanges. Our room (suite, really!) was far more than we expected, and we spent time listening to crickets at night and birds in the morning. Unique and thoughtful touches throughout, and a beautiful, peaceful, quiet location -- we give our highest recommendation!!

Escape is Close by

Nel's Place is a short drive from downtown Corning, NY. However the property is quiet, and a fabulous way to go home to after a busy day. Nel is a wonderful hostess, friendly, concerned for her guest's comfort, yet respectful of privacy. I highly recommend staying here, you will be thrilled. But...... After getting off the highway, GPS did take us on a roundabout way to get to this place. Ask Nel for shorter, more direct directions.
