The guy in the reception was really friendly, the breakfast was great and also the room, but the manager was rude and questioned are booking and wanted to change us to a smaller room and charge us extra for breakfast when it was actually included.

Good location, felt empty though
The location was great for your Ella staple visits - near town, on route to Little Adams Peak and 9 Arches Bridge. Only unfortunate thing was that the hotel felt empty, which isn’t great as a solo traveler. WiFi didn’t work though, and staff wasn’t around much for help - when I asked about the WiFi they insisted it was an issue with me (I had three devices...same issues) aka not their fault. Eventually the owner came out and was a little rude. I left a day earlier than planned.

Exactly what we were looking for
We just wanted a really comfortable bed close to the city and important visiting points, exactly what we got. Good breakfast and nice service. Only good things to say about the place.

Great area, okay hotel
Our room awkwardly located and so very noisy. Rooms were okay standard, bed not the greatest. Ideal location and very helpful staff. The breakfast was nice and enjoyed roof top views. Would stay again, but different room.

Das Hotel ist in der Nähe des Dorfzentrums und ist gut zu Fuss erreichbar. Das Frühstück war sehr gut und beinhaltete Früchte und auch traditionelle Sri lankesische Spezialitäten wie die Crêpes-ähnlichen Röllchen gefüllt mit Honig und Kokos. Das einzige Problem war, dass gleich neben dem Hotel ein Tanzkulturzentrum ist und dort jeden Abend von ca. 17-18:30 Uhr sehr lautes Getrommel herrscht...Zusätzlich haben wir ein Zimmer zugeteilt bekommen, dass sich ziemlich im Grünen befand und wir daher Ameisen in unserem Zimmer auffinden mussten. Ausserdem gab es keine Fenster, sondern Gitter oben...dadurch kriegt man in der Nacht auch den ganzen Lärm der anderen Gäste mit. Leider lief auch das Wasser beim Lavabo praktisch nicht ab und das Bett war sehr hart und unbequem...also Nichts für Menschen mit Rückenbeschwerden. Man muss aber auch sagen, dass das Hotel unglaublich günstig war und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis gestimmt hatte. Da ich und mein Partner eher jung und unkompliziert sind, dachten wir, dass wir hier eine ehrliche Bewertung schreiben, die eventuell kompliziertere bzw. heiklere Menschen informiert.

Vi var der en enkelt overnatning . Rummeligt værelse , slidt badeværelse . Der kan kun være 2 på nettet ad gangen , vi var tre. Ligger fint ned til centrum . Men ville ikke bo der mere end en overnatning. Hvis man skulle se tv( som ikke kunne vise kanalerne grundet manglende internet forbindelse , så skulle man tage stikket ud af køleskabet. Så enten eller . Fik lovning på morgenmad to go, da vi tjekkede tidligt ud, men tror de sov sødt! Det var super bløde madrester, så man sover godt

Great location
Easy to get to Main Street, the station as well as the walk for 7 arch bridge. Calmer location. Staff were so helpful and we were given a local map of the area. Wonderful generous breakfasts which included coconut pancakes. I lioved this place.

Mediocre hotel, good location.
Hotel is in a great location, easy walk to most of the tourist attractions and town centre. The room was very tired and used. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. There was only one powerpoint in the room and that was used by the refrigerator. Breakfast was very basic. Overall the stay was very average.

Friendly management, disappointing room.
A bit disappointing. Id been saying in other places around the same price range, but the quality of the room wasnt really up to scratch. No bedside tables, the door to the bathroom wouldnt close properly, ants everywhere in the bathroom, the shower head set lower than my head, and a few other minor issues. However, the management was extremely hospitable. Very kind and helpful. Good breakfast.

Egentlig et fint lille hotel med god beliggenhed 5 min gang fra byen med ok rene værelser, der dog ikke blev gjort rent i de 3 dage vi var der (ikke engang skraldespanden blev tømt). Største problem er dog at der er ved at blive bygget en ny etage på hotellet, så der er meget larm allerede fra kl. 7.00. Hele lokalområdet er en stor byggeplads, så der er meget lidt hyggeligt.

Unfortunate circumstances; trying to be fair.
First the positive. Location is very good. Breakfasts were good. Room seemed decent, though nothing special. Owner very helpful with directions to area sites of interest. Unfortunately, the hotel had no electricity the entire time I was there (2 nights), so no hot water, no lights, and no WiFi. While I know this was beyond the control of the owner, I still feel like I didn’t get what I paid for (and there was no adjustment in price made or offered).

Hotellet har ett helt fantastiskt läge i Ella, nära huvudgatan men också åt rätt håll för att gå till t.ex. nine arches bridge och Little Adams peak. Boendet i sig är mindre trevligt, vårt rum var extremt smutsigt på golvet och sängarna slitna. Det fanns aldrig något extra toapapper så det gällde att hitta någon i personalen när det tog slut. Ägaren är inte den trevligaste jag mött och vid slutet av vår vistelse fick jag ett argt brev i ett kuvert för att jag fyllt i recensionen om incheckningen jag fick via mail av hotels och han inte tyckte att det var okej. Skulle inte rekommendera någon att bo här förräns de förbättrar sin service och fräschar till stället.

Many ants in the room and all the staff had was citronella, which did nothing. Don't eat the breakfast here. The food isn't good and is extremely expensive compared to much better meals on the main strip.

Great place in a great town!
The power was out for most of our stay due to a hurricane. This was a bit frustrating, however, Sonny, the hotel manager did everything he could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The moment we arrived he pulled out a map and walked us through the town and its surroundings telling us everything we could do in Ella. Sonny is a very interesting and worldly fellow. He has lived all over the world and speaks English and French fluently. The room was comfortable with mosquito net and fan, and when the power came back on, the wifi worked well. We would recommend this hotel and stay again!

Horrible place with an arrogant n obnoxious owner
Lost faith in expedia for even having this hellhole listed. Mr owner is a downright arrogant man who feels a floor mat is a bath towel. Nothing of this place is even half good. Avoid it.

Not recommended
We had booked three rooms, but several of those were is so bad shape, we decided not to stay. We had coakroaches, a lot of stains in sheets and towels etc. We feedbacked the personnel when returning the keys immediately (we didnt umpack anything) and they still rejected our claims to Hotels.com, saying that we have not feedbacked them during they stay. Eventhough we didnt even stay!

This was a budget hotel so it was good value for money. The facilities are basic but the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room has a big double bed and a surpringly good shower. In addition, the location was ideal only a 5 minute walk down hill from the station. The breakfast was also very nice and only 500 rupees.

Een klein, heel proper hotelletje, Doen!!!
We verbleven er 2 nachten met onze 3 kinderen. Het is een fijn klein hotelletje, de eigenaar en zijn vrouw spreken uitstekend Engels en staan met alles klaar om je te helpen. De kamers zijn eenvoudig maar zeer proper. Het sanitair redelijk nieuw eenvoudig maar weer heel proper. Heel goed gelegen met alles minder dan 5min wandelafstand

Enjoyable stay and good value for money. We had a family room. It was basic but clean. Well positioned; close to town centre and the walk to Little Adams Peak. Breakfast was good, with plenty to eat. The owners are absolutely lovely and very helpful. They speak fluent English and French. They gave us directions to the Ravanna Falls and even helped us find accommodation in Nuwara Eliya.

petit hôtel au calme dans le centre d'Ella, sans restaurant mais à proximité immédiate de beaucoup de restaurants. les chambres sont propres et confortables. le propriétaire nous a expliqué ce qu'on pouvait faire sur place sans lui demander (c'est le seul qui nous a fait ça de tout notre séjour) et en plus il fait l'effort de parler en Français

3 of us stayed at the hotel, we came via train, as hotel has pickup services we were greeted at train station by friendly hotel staff who lead us to tuk tuk ( train station is short distances from hotel) the hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone .. as well hotel is centrally located for restaurants, night live and as well local bus station ( we took bus to our next adventure) ...

The single room I occupied was very small with the bed taking up most of the room. It was next to the proprietor's unit and I could hear everything that went on in the unit. Thankfully the noise abated after 10 pm. WiFi was bad but this could be due to storms. Proprietor was pretty helpful in answering my questions.

Friendly and Quiet
This was the only hotel in Sri Lanka where I could get wifi in my room and I wasn't even that close to reception. Very friendly service, the owner is all smiles. Comfortable bed with mosquito netting. Ella is small so it's easy to walk from the hotel to the main street. It's probably about a fifteen minute walk to the train station but tuk-tuks are everywhere. Nice and quiet. A good stay.
