This was hands down the best hotel breakfast we had in Chilean and Argentinean Patagonia, including Tierra del Fuego, with a great variety of healthy, delicious options we truly looked forward to each morning. The cozy, cottage-like ambiance felt like visiting my grandparents’ home, warm and comforting, and the service was outstanding—leaving our bags while visiting El Chaltén was seamless, and coming back genuinely felt like coming home.
The hotel has character & the staff is amazing.
A shout out to Carlos & Juan Facundo at Reception who made us feel welcome & at home during our stay.
The breakfast was delicious as was the food at the attached restaurant - El Alambique Resto.
We had dinner at the restaurant two days in a row & the food was excellent.
This is definitely the hotel we will stay in when we next visit El Calafet.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The staff at the hotel were very kind, and I appreciated the beautiful flowers I received on the first day. However, the building feels quite dated — the last renovation was about 20 years ago — and it shows. The shower in our room didn’t drain properly, which was inconvenient, and the espresso was unfortunately very poor. With some updates and attention to these details, the stay could be much more enjoyable.
This hotel is just a little bit off the main drag in El Calafate, which we enjoyed because it was very peaceful but still walkable. The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful; they gave us some great recommendations for dining options in the area and made us feel very welcome during our stay!
The hotel used to be the headquarters of the estancia where Calafate was settled. The house is very beautiful, cozy, and with nice decoration. Clean and comfortable are the rooms. Excellent breakfast and impecable staff, gentle and very professional. The Restaurant is also run by
This is our second stay at the property. It is an easy walk into town but far away enough to enjoy the tranquility of the area. The breakfast was amazing and we also enjoyed the free geology lecture. I highly recommend this hotel!
Great property, although a little tired in places. Lots of good information about hotel and gardens. Excellent bar and restaurant. Breakfast was superb. Staff were super friendly and helpful. 20-30 minute walk into Centro.
Hotel is really good and in a great location - 15’ walk to the city center. Breakfast is amazing and super complete, friendly staff, clean rooms.
The restaurant is own by a different company and you can’t charge it to the room.
Very nicely maintained. An old style building with large windows open to a beautiful view of landscape. The entire place is decorated nicely. The front desk staff Matías is very helpful. He helped us book a tour in the last minute while the original booked tour failed to pick us up in the morning as originally scheduled. We can’t say enough thanks to Matías!
This is a cute, welcoming hotel that we loved for our 3 night stay. While it is an older hotel, it’s clean and well kept. The breakfast had a lot of good options and we enjoyed it every morning. It was an easy 10 minute walk to downtown and the hotel offered free bikes to use if needed. We would definitely recommend staying here!
Very good quality hotel with green land for walking. Bicycle service is super

Good meal at the onsite restaurant. About a 20 minute walk to town. Very quiet location. Great breakfast. Some issues with our toilet but that was addressed.
Loved the historical features in the hotel and room whilst it still felt modern and updated. Staff were friendly and helpful and the on-site restaurant was great food and convenient - we were even able to take wine back to our room from there even though it's separately operated from the hotel. Room was spacious - though we requested one bed, we were allocated a twin room - not a big deal as the beds were still comfortable, it just wasn't acknowledged that the room preference could not be met. The accessibility of the power plugs in the room wasn't ideal - nothing by the beds or the desk. And a mini fridge in the room would have been helpful. Short taxi or a 15/20 min walk to restaurants in town depending on how far along the main street you go.
An estancia converted into a hotel. Property is dated, but very clean. Our room was a decent size, but the bathroom was small with no place to hang towels. Hot water and water pressure was good, Wi-Fi was good.
There was no AC and it was quite warm, our first 2 days, so an AC or ceiling fan would have helped. The staff did provide a portable fan, when I asked.
We could not open the windows because of insects, and there is no patio attached to the room.
The walk to the center of town was over 20 minutes.
The breakfast was very good with a decent spread.
The restaurant food was very good
They have a very limited food menu, however they were accomodating and cooked delicious vegetarian meals for me twice, as I was tired of eating meat all the time.
Our room was clean and spacious. We liked having a mini fridge and ample space to store our luggage and we appreciated the 6am breakfast start, since we had an early morning tour. The hotel is about a 10 minute drive from the town centre. Recommended if you have your own transportation.
