The room was and clean and the mattress was good, could do with a bit of a repaint on the skirting and the blue textured wall would look better painted white. The shower/toilet door did have a big gap down the side so not very private for going to the loo if you are staying with someone else. Luckily there was another toilet down the hall. Woken up the the seagulls at the early hours. Really good location though, a minutes walk from the pier.

For the price was very good just a few negatives 1) I asked if i could leave my luggage before booking in time and was told yes and given code to enter.....but no one came so for security reasons i could not really leave it. 2) No word done on room between my 3 nights stay 3) long life milk was curdled ? down to very hot weather?)

On arrival I was given a room but there was no heating so it was very cold. The Manger happily moved me to another room with a heater in which was better. The room itself was clean and in good condition with plenty of tea/coffee. The mattress though was very hard, not comfortable at all and quite crunchy. The noise from outside was easily heard (which can't be helped I imagine) but still was a loud room to have. The staff were helpful and all in all for the price I paid I can't really complain. I don't think I would return, purely as the bed made sleep quote hard.

The picture on hotel’s website must be either old or previous owners it said about breakfast included in the ‘breakfast room’ even a notice in the room about breakfast but there was NO breakfast room and NO breakfast had to go out each morning and buy our own never saw any staff after booking in which explained why they want payment on arrival did email the address on the room information and as of yet still no reply and have been home two days no reply to number I texted also which was in the hallway also The room itself was clean and comfortable bed but missing handle inside bathroom door and could not use shower as was broken and not attached to the wall at the bottom as was the toilet roll holder also broken I have pictures too show all the comments I have made

Family catch up time

Staff very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed all my breakfast daily and selections were good. If I need to be that area again would definitely go there again..

there was no one to greet you when i arrived very poor conditions the room was okay but i had the same towels from when i arrived till i left no one came in to change the bedding very poor will not be coming here again

A bed and breakfast with no breakfast room on site, £22 on top to get it at a local cafe and no daily resupply of room consumables. I thought 2 coffees were for my first day, it was for a 2 day stay.

Check-in. rrive at property and need a code to get in - o host to meet. Contrary to what the say, neither I nor my frend saw a code on our confirmation email. Ring the number given in email and it went to answering machine, so no contact. Breafast did not exist. No toilet paper in my room. No chair, drawers or shelves so clothes had to go on floor.

Good location in the rown however surroundings were very run down. No option of breakfast on site and quite poor locally. Disabled parking outside property was used by a comercial van. Eastbourne traffic wardens took no action.

Poor servive? No – no service.

Check-in: Need a code which was supposedly given in their confirmation email. Neither I normy friend, on a separate booking, received a code. So I arrive at the door with no code and, good news - there is a contact number in the email. Bad news, it goes straight to voicemail. Fortuntaely, after a few minutes a resident who has a better contact number shows up and I get in. No toilet paper in the room, no chair or similar to put clothes. Supposed to be breakfast included - no breakfast.

Deserve refund for this shoddy stay.

No staff on premises, managed remotely. Had to sit on door step for 55 mins upon arrival before i could reach someone by phone. People living next door said that this has happened a few times. Breakfast not on sight. Was going to be cafe in next street, then got changed overnight (note under room door) to another cafe a 5 mins walk away (in the rain)

Was given lower level room which seemed overflow room as it was not very clean, mouldy and musty smell with very worn out lumpy mattress. Owners were out and 'no vacancies' sign up. Asking for another room next morning, I was given a perfectly decent one. However, not without owner at length arguing with me that I was the first guest to complain and I shouldn't expect luxury when booking these kinds of places. I've been staying in these kinds of places for over 20 years all over the UK, without ever any such issues. It's not about luxury, but about my holiday and my health. Terrible attitude.

This is the worst hotel I have stayed at.

This is the first time that the photos on Hotels.com don't reflect in anyway the actual hotel. There are no flowers at all on the hotel, as it looks in the photo. We actually thought that it was closed. You make your way in and you are wondering where you are going. We opened the door and where wondering what we had done. The door on the ensuit bathroom didn't fit the frame so there was a 10cm gap at one end. The area around didn't feel safe at night. You can hear the people next door and the pluming made a lot of noise so if someone needed to get up early and shower then everyone was up. The only positive was that the water was hot. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We cannot believe that this has a genuine 8.4 rating on Hotels.com.

on the website it was described as a guest house with reception and breakfast available it does no have a reception or any catering facilities now and is just rooms for hire a al AirbandB. And I was not expected, I had to wait on the door step for someone to come from another address to let me in and had to wait again while they got my room ready. It was OK but not what I thought I had booked for! And the batteries ran out on the TV remote and I had to replace them to make the TV work and the water didn't run away properly in the shower tray, taking too long to go away! Something must have gone wrong with your or their booking system and needs to be sorted out.

Left on doorstep for 1/2 hour before they answered the door in the rain. The girl who answered the door wanted me to tip out my case in the hall to find pen and paper to take the door code down No breakfast as advertised, no Manager around to speak to. Eventually a guy who said he was a Manger who actually wasn't put manager on the phone who said no breakfast. Cant shut toilet door as door was too close to toilet. Old sash windows that rattled, toilet when flushed sounded like the Eiffel tower collapsing. The 3 milks they give had all gone off. Rubbish up the side of the building, no flower boxes outside as shown.This was a dump, would not put an enemy in it.

Spent one night in Eastbourne. Cromwell House was a perfect spot for us - easy check in, delicious breakfast, and close proximity to the pier. For the price, we felt this was a clean, cosy spot. We felt very welcome here and would definitely stay again.

I don't have any major issues but there could have better airfreshners because there was an unpleasant smell coming from the wardrobe. The owner was helpful. Car parking is a problem but this is not related just to this guest house.
