recommended for city breaks
Great spot and will look to stay again, the only downside was the check in was confusing s no longer at the site giving in the booking. This site were still very helpful and assisted us. Overall it was great value and a perfect drop in spot.

Pictures nothing like reality
I'd love to know where the photos of the apartments were taken as they looked nothing like the room we stayed in...Very misleading to say the least!!! Particularly the balcony snap that looks lovely - well the view from our apartment was nothing like that and I've yet to see a balcony. Its not a place i'd stay in again in all fairness, the surrounding area was a little run down, to be polite, and in need of a good clean.... The apartment itself is in need of a little TLC and a good clean (the shower curtain was minging), but given we were here to enjoy the delights of Dublin we thankfully didn't spend too long in it. Location wise 10 minute walk to Temple Bar which was brilliant.

The property was in a great location for those traveling without a vehicle. Hop on hop off, airport shuttle, public transportation all with a 2 minute walk to the apartment. 15 minute walk to temple bar and all the action! If you read your itinerary prior to arrival, you will have no issues finding the apartment. It’s literally a 1 minute walk from the reception area. When I read the reviews originally, some people made it sound like the hotel sends you on a search around the city, that is definitely not the case. It was easy to find. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone who might struggle with stairs - there is a lot of stairs, especially if your room is on the top floor. The unit was clean but had a lot of visible wear and tear on the walls. Having a washer (hang dry only) in the unit was amazing. The windows overlook the ‘Living Room’ pub/Murray’s patio which was convenient but quite noisy at all hours of the night. Overall good experience. I would recommend for any younger travellers that are okay with stairs and pretty cool sports bar located under your building. We would definitely stay here again.

Does what it says on the tin
Check in is at a property across the street, which would have been useful to know in advance (like when you book). Once someone from hotels.com had figured that out for us the apartment we had (on the 3rd floor) was quite nice: clean, well sized, well located for seeing the sights (Parnell Street Luas is outside the front door of the building) & pretty well equipped. It was a little noisy (both from the street below & nearby apartments) and the fridge didn’t close properly... but we enjoyed our stay there and the living area gave our kids a nice place to play and relax.

Firstly, the picture associated with the O'Connell Street Apartments looks nothing like the actual area which is now a seedy part of town although it is near an area of Dublin which apparently was part of high society. It no longer looks that way. The apartment is in an old building that houses a Casino on the lower level and so cigarette smoke can be smelled through the apartment. The bedrooms were refurbished but the carpets are dirty and the floors are uneven. There was dirty liquid dripping down one side of the bedrooms walls. The clocks weren't working and the shower stall was all moldy. Buyer beware. Not worth the money.

Description on Expedia totally misleading. Difficult to find - nowhere does it say O’Connel Street Apts...in terrible part of town...actual accommodations across the street from reception...not clean...terribly noisy...had no hot water one day. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Property was in a good location but very noisy at night as bedrooms faced on to busy O’Connell Street, yet living room was at the back and very dark with no windows. Communal stair area had rubbish lying around. No stairs which was a real struggle with luggage, especially as our apartment was on the top floor. Not happy with 200 euro deposit. Was told would be refunded by 2pm after check out...still waiting

We were happy with the O'Connell Street apartments during our stay. The apartments were clean and well appointed. The apartment was also located close to the Temple Bar area and O'Connell street (apartment wasn't actually on O'Connell street.) However, the reception desk was located across the street and neither location was easy to location due to minimal signage. In addition, there wasn't an elevator which made carrying 10+ bags up multiple flights of stairs difficult. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would consider staying at the property during our next trip to Dublin.

4 days in Dublin
The location was amazing! 2 minutes from the centre of Dublin. The apartment was large loads of space. It was very clean apart from the extractor fan in the bathroom which was full of dust. The bathroom also had some cracked tiles and a crack in the wash hand basin.Staff at the Gate Hotel were very helpful. I would definitely stay there again and recommend to others.

I have used Travelocity for years to book rooms and this was my first terrible experience. I have no idea if the apartment was nice or not because after multiple attempts to communicate with them we gave up. Contacted early in our trip to find out how we check in. No response. Contacted a Travelocity. They phoned and no one answered. Travelocity was supposed to email and get back to me. Never happened. Tried contacting again a few days later. At this point we were a few days from check in and still had no idea how to reach them. Finally got an email from the property at around noon on check in date. Too late!! By then we had made arrangements elsewhere. May be a wonderful property but we will never know and Travelocity really let us down.

Very nice apartment but cumbersome to get heavy luggage for four people up and down two floors. First night there were uninvited people having a party inside the entryway until 2:00am.

It took us a long time to find where to go as the key collection was in a pub...this was not made clear! The room had dirty towels and rug with marks all over the walls. They changed the locks on the door without telling us and wasn’t until we tried to get in late at night that we realised and had to walk over to the key collection to ask what was going on

The apartment was superb. Very spacious, well maintained and modern, but there needs to be better communication of how and where to obtain the keys for the accommodation. The email suggests to call a number prior to arrival, but the number had no idea why. The check in process was simple, but huge deposit required too!

The arrival time wasn't as advertised and we couldn't get in at the time it had stated. We asked to be able to look at the rooms as the outside was very unappealing (and not at all what it showed on the photos) but were told we weren't allowed to view our rooms. After leaving and bypassing the homeless/beaten up people at the doorway we decided it wasn't the place to stay with young children. Dear Anonymous, thank you for sharing your experience with us. I am very disappointed to read your review but it is a standard procedure in all hospitality not to show the guests accommodation unit if it is not serviced. As for the homeless man outside the building, it's not something we can influence and it does not mean our accommodation is unsafe by any means. Nice apartment in central Dublin
It could be clearer as to where you need to go to check in. Despite being called O'Connell Street Apartments, you actually have to check in on Parnell St (at The Gate Hotel) But after finding the reception, check in was easy. My apartment was 2 mins walk away. The apartment appeared brand new. Very clean, with tea, coffee, bottles of water, and even a selection of biscuits supplied. Three bedrooms, two had double beds, one had a double and a single bed. Bedroom at the front of the building can get noisy at night as it looks out over the street, but I'm a light sleeper and it didn't bother me too much.
