My first night was unexpected—I needed an ambulance to the local hospital after a fall on the ferry—but the staff at Bay Vista were incredibly attentive throughout the whole ordeal. We had our first stargazing opportunity here as bad weather had put pay to our plans in all dark sky areas. We had a wonderful and memorable experience at The Jolly Poacher.」

「After our longest walk on the 4 day Queen Charlotte Track, this resort was a delight to end with. The room was comfortable and the shower hot. They had a lovely bar area for a pre-dinner drink and dinner was delicious. We found the water conservation and rainwater use fascinating and applaud their efforts. 「Although the reception is not opened for 24 hours, the duty staffs were helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel is a little bit far from the ferry terminal, it is still OK because Picton is safe even we needed to walk in the darkness between the terminal and the hotel. In addition, two supermarkets are not far away. I will choose this hotel again if I come back especially the room rate is reasonable. 」

「This place is a gem. Located across the street from Intercity bus, next door from the train station and 50m away from the ferry terminal, the location couldn't be better! There weren't a lot of people when I stayed and instead of cramming everyone in a single dorm, they let each guest have an entire dorm. I appreciated the gesture very much. Moreover they provide towels (not common in NZ unfortunately) and there is breakfast available and included. I highly recommend this place」

「The rooms are clean and tidy. Unfortunately we have to share the toilet and bath which was very irritated because it was outside the cabins. My friend who is 72 years old and has to go to toilet at night time which is very inconvenient to her.」
