Stay VERY FAR AWAY from this place

Stay very far away from this place!! Several other couples and families left this place as we did for other accommodation on the island. No food in the restaurant. Staff abandoned to try and sort things out by irresponsible owners. No A/C working. It is listed as a 5 Star resort, but nothing close… maybe 2 star. We tried to contact the owners to resolve our issues, but they we just incredibly rude and u helpful. You will 100% regret if you book to stay here

This was a beautiful property with an extremely spacious cottage available for us! The grounds are beautiful and the staff were gracious and extremely helpful! It's right on the ocean. Highly recommend for everyone.

Staff were friendly and polite, and the food was good, although a bit pricey. The menu is very limited. The property is old and needs some renovation. It is promoted as a 5 star hotel, but it is clearly not one. Owners and expedia should rectify this. The rooms have old, moldy furniture, and the A/Cs do not work, so none of us had a good night's sleep, and it was even harder to take a nap during the day. When we arrived, the grass was very high, the swimming pool dirty, but when reported to the staff, they quickly improved on that. I would definitely not return to this hotel.

C'est vrai, l'hôtel Anna of Zanzibar mériterait un petit rafraîchissement, car de petites choses commencent à disfonctionner. Mais le style colonial des bungalows, les volumes, la décoration chic et rétro qui reflète les différentes influences que l'on trouve sur l'île (africaine, arabe, indienne), l'utilisation de beaux matériaux comme le teck et le terrazzo de corail créent un charme et une authenticité auxquels il est difficile de ne pas être sensible. Le temps a permis à la végétation de se développer et la piscine, à quelques pas d'une magnifique plage de sable blanc, est entourée d'une luxuriante végétation où s'ébattent des oiseaux multicolores. Le personnel est absolument adorable et les plats qui composent la carte du restaurant sont vraiment délicieux. Anna of Zanzibar est un havre de beauté et de tranquilité sur la côte de l'île réputée la plus sauvage et la moins courue. Le souvenir du magnifique séjour que j'y ai passé va me permettre de traverser tout l'hiver.

No AC, no hot water, tap water very salty you can’t brush your teeth. Pool dirty. Beach is not good no sunbathing seats. No reception and no phone in reception. We left the hotel as soon as possible.

Nous avons passé 1 semaine du 17 au 25 mars dans le cadre paradisiaque de l'hôtel. Le jardin est très luxuriant avec des petits oiseaux jaunes très beaux et des singes inoffensifs qui se promènent d'arbres en arbres. Nous avons eu la chance d'avoir l'hôtel pour nous tous seuls car c'était la fin de saison (la saison des pluies en avril-mai arrivait) et de faire connaissance avec le propriétaire. Nous avons eu des échanges très intéressants avec lui et nous avons beaucoup apprécié sa gentillesse et sa convivialité. Nous recommandons cet hôtel à toutes les personnes qui recherchent l'authenticité, le calme, ainsi que la bonne cuisine. En effet, nous nous sommes régalés avec les plats proposés et n'avons eu aucune envie de chercher ailleurs. Sachant que nous sommes difficiles de ce point de vue là, ça équivaut à un 10/10 ! Concernant la plage, nous étions venus pour faire du snorkeling et en marchant sur la plage à gauche en direction de la jetée, nous avons pu voir de beaux fonds marins sans avoir à prendre un bateau ou aller très loin. Le personnel est adorable, surtout Iren, Abas et les autres dont nous ne nous souvenons plus du prénom...

Leider hatte ich die Bewertungen vor Buchung nicht sorgfältig genug gelesen. Das Anna ist von einem 5-Stern meilenwert entfernt. Bereits die off-road Zufahrt ist so grauenvoll. dass man gar kein Hotel vermutet bzw. denkt, nicht die richtige Zufahrt erwischt zu haben. Ansonsten: die Wasserversorgung in den Zimmern besteht aus Salzwasser (übrigens wie auch des Swimming Pools), dh man wird tagelang nie das Gefühl von klebriger Haut los, beide Klimaanlagen in unserem Zimmer produzierte mit der Angabe von 16 C nur lauwarme Luft. Als wir duschen wollten fiel uns auf, dass nur kochend heisses Wasser aus der Dusche kam. Auf unsere Reklamation hiess es, man müsse das heisse Wasser ca. 15 Min ablaufen lassen. Also haben wir 5 Tage lang Unmengen von heissem Wasser verschwendet. Die gesamte Anlage um den Pool bis zum Strand ist in einem ungepflegten verfallenden Zustand, wirkt verlassen. Der Strandabschnitt bietet keinen einfachen Zugang zum Meer, sehr steinig. Die Reinigung der Zimmer ist mal besser, mal schlechter, man mag dann auf keinen Fall barfuss gehen. Was ist gut - die Küche und die Kellner, welche sehr nett sind, das Essen ist gut und nicht teuer. Die Karte wechselte allerdings nicht.

Et liten stykke paradis!

Et liten stykke paradis! Ligger i Fredfylte omgivelser, meget god service fra de vennlige og smilende ansatte. God mat fra kjøkkenet, litt stive priser men ikke noe uvanlig for et hotell. Bassengvannet inneholder umåtelig høy mengde med klorin, noe man burde være forsiktig med hvis man er allergisk overfor klorin. Selve suiten bestod av to soverom og et meget stort bad, mer enn nok plass for to personer.

Amazing Flora and fauna at the property; beautiful surroundings. Right near the beach too. Fantastic and very helpful staff. Great food, but would have liked a change in the menu, for example the special was always the same fish.

Staff was kind, attentive and fun. I always felt welcome and every need or request was addressed in a timely matter. Very professional. Manager Laurent, Cook, Bar tenders, waiters/waitresses, cleaning crew... all outstanding and kind. Thank you again, I won't forget my stay here.

La nourriture est savoureuse. Le petit déjeuner est très léger. Jus de fruit coupé à l'eau. La chambre est spacieuse mais sombre et sale, si on ne marche pieds nus, on passe pour se nettoyer nécessaire car ils sont noirs. La on a le droit à de l'eau salée au robinet, des moisissures sur les murs. Les équipements ont du être beau mais cet hôtel est défraîchi. Pas du à la hauteur de ce qu on il prétend être à savoir un 5 étoiles. La pompe de la piscine était en panne, les chaises longues défraîchie. Bref, au bout d'un jour on a préférer quitter. Les taxis locaux ne connaissait pas cet hotel. Il ne devrait pas être référencé avec une telle note si on compare aux autres.

Very beautiful, authentic and family friendly hotel. Enjoyed every moment. The running water was quite salty due to being taken from underground well but it didnt stop us from enjoying our time there.

Truly exceptional

I have been to Zanzibar several times, and this place is just awesome. First the caveat - it is not a place for party animals. It is a small quiet place for relaxation The bungalows … super large, two bedrooms, very nice design. Simply outstanding Grounds and pool … the same. Pool is actually large, grounds are impeccable … and the beach superb Restaurant … haute cuisine. Ingredients are exceptionally fresh and high quality. But the menu is perhaps overdone with “exotic” items at the expense of more standard things … for example, there was only one fresh fish option when we are 20 meters from the ocean. OK, there are several alternatives within walking distance … Service … again impeccable. Special thanks to Candy but also several others that I don’t remember the name. The manager Laurent did a great job keeping things together In summary, one of the best choices for a quiet relaxing retreat ….

We stayed there for 5 day. Beautiful property with only 6 villas so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. Staff, room size, and food,10/10! A couple issues during our stay: they bleached my pajamas, the taxi they arranged for us to go to the airport was 45 min late, hot water, power, and internet was inconsistent. They were addressed immediately when we brought it to the team. I would recommend staying there

Everything was perfect, or more. For half of our stay we were the only guests and the staff was at our disposal when necessary (never invasive, always in the right way). Each of the 5 villa is independant, very big and quiet. Meals are served at the chosen time and location (beach, pool, main house or villa) and for each we can choose between 3 starters, 3 main meal and 2 desserts...or chose one we liked on another day. Also, food is very good and various (local things, european, thaï inspiration...). The beach in front of Anna's is very long and we enjoyed walking in one way or the other. Just one small default : we can only swim in the ocean when it's medium/high tide. (but that's the case for almost everywhere on this part of Zanzibar) If we have the opportunity, we will come back with enthousiasm, and we definitely recommand !

Så nära paradiset du kan komma

Ett fantastiskt litet och personligt hotell med underbar service och ännu bättre mat. Vår villa var stor och lyxig och vi fick välja om vi ville äta vid stranden, poolen, i restaurangen eller på vår egen veranda. Maten som serverades varierades och vi fick välja våra tre rätter både till lunch och middag.

My stay in Anna of Zanzibar was wonderful. The staff are an absolute delight, so attentive and caring. Michael the owner has done an amazing job in this hotel that feels like a dream. The food is absolutely delicious! When I stayed there there was some maintenance works done by the beach, but that was a small disturbance that did not affect too badly my stay. I would recommend this hotel any time as you will have a very special time there. Thanks

Private paradise

Great hotel, great service, great food. Personal touch in every aspect of your stay. We felt like staying at a friend's mansion, added the 5 stars service. Number of staff exceeds number of guests, so you have someone at your service in every single minute of your stay. Only if you need them of course as privacy of the guests seems to be top priority too. Let's hope we get back there soon.
