My team of 9 arrived on a rainy evening and settled in hoping the rolling waves would ease up so that our ship could depart for Ulleung Island in the morning. The couple who run this pension helped us with recommendations for sightseeing (we were only walking, so that was limited) and then made the calls for us to get take-out delivered. (The husband speaks English quite well.) Taxis were scarce the next morning, but we'd been warned about that and so when we realized we were in a jam we called one of our drivers from the previous evening and she pulled through for us marvelously, bringing two of her friends in a 3-taxi caravan to rescue our trip (no exaggeration--we probably would've missed it without her). I think the pension's owners were even more worried for our sake than we were, because they had a better understanding of how risky the situation was!
