Pristine peaceful retreat

Pristine secluded retreat surrounded by flowers and birds! We love the cozy atmosphere and comfort! The pool is a welcome respite from the humidity. The rooms are spotless and the breakfast is delicious!

The staff are all wonderful people. They made us feel right at home. The ambience was amazing, we saw and heard a ton of wildlife. The howler monkeys sure do know how to make an entrance. The gazebo by the water was tranquil and I recharged after spending time in the hammock. The food was delicious as breakfast comes with the stay. I totally recommend this place for anyone wanting to be close to things yet feel like you are far away.

From the moment we arrived at this property, we loved it! Our check-in was very efficient and pleasant. Our room was a little on the "cozy" side for space but more than made up by the outside nature waking up in the morning sounds!!!!! The surrounding area was very nicely laid out and beautiful wildlife you could see come and go. The pool was perfect! The breakfast was so delicious!!! We loved Dana!!! She was so helpful, friendly, professional...I could go on. All the staff was nice. Highly recommend this hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

First of all, Dana and the rest of the staff are amazing! My car battery died the day I was leaving and they were more than helpfull, attentive and supportive while the problem was fixed! The hotel is a hidden gem in the heart of the rainforest... I was lucky to find it! Beautiful wooden cabins, all sorrounded by the forest, where you can spot monkeys and birds in their natural habitat, a creek that runs through the property and so quiet it trully is a little paradise!!! Great breakfast too!! I hope to be back soon!!!

El Mono Feliz and Dana and Luz were terrific for our last of three areas visited in Costa Rica. Staff was friendly and accomodating, breakfasts were yummy and the pool was refreshing after a sweaty day of hiking. The only drawback was that the room my partner and I stayed in was very small. We were squished in our two bedrooms and the bathroom was the smallest I've seen in all my travels. Also they were right next to the dining area and reception area and morning noise was difficult to sleep through.We did get used to it as there were no other rooms available while we were there. There were lots of fun activities within a short drive of the hotel.

Rustic gem hidden im the rainforest

We stayed in this hidden gem for 2 nights with another couple. We rented a Superior Villa with a kitchenette and 2 bedrooms but upon arriving we were surprised to see that it was a lot smaller than the photos led us to believe. It would be better for a family then 2 couples as the bedroom with the double bed only had a privacy curtain. Both rooms were open above the door so that the AC which is only in the single beds room, could cool the entire villa. We did not eat there, which is good because the kitchen is super small and it would be hard to open the bathroom door if 2 people were sitting at the table. Other than that, this is a great place surrounded by lush rain forest and bordered by a stream with a deck to relax on. We enjoyed the pool and the breakfast was great. Lau, the manager was friendly and did her job well. When we arrived there was a message to WhatsApp her for check-in. I didn't see the wifi password on a sign so I was a bit daunted when my cell comnection wasn't so good. But it all worked out fine. We had a great stay but next time I would rent 2 rooms imstead of sharing.

Home away from home...but better!

We were absolutely thrilled with our stay at Mono Feliz and would have stayed longer but we'd already paid for accommodations in Quepos so regrettably had to leave. The grounds, the rooms and the gorgeous pool all exceeded our expectations. This place is exceptional value for the money. When you throw in the delicious made to order breakfasts and never ending flow of coffee it seems too good to be true but it is! The hosts are the real deal here and go out of there way to make you feel comfortable. Right from the personalized check in with extensive local tips to the french toast with homemade apple compote from local organic apples, the service is genuine and heartfelt. One evening they made up pitchers of banana daquaris for everyone while we sat on the rancho in a thunderstorm. We're just sad we missed the New Year's local drink they were promising the night we were leaving! Honestly we are counting the days until we can spend are longer time in the relaxing, laid back paradise the gentleman have created at Mono el Feliz in Ojochal!

Pool war wunderschön, Gartenanlage grossartig mit Kolibris usw. Besitzer Paar sehr aufmerksam und hilfsbereit. An der Infrastruktur sollte vieles erneuert oder mindestens repariert werden. kein Wasser im Waschbecken, Duschrohr beim Duschen gebrochen, Regulator für Ventilator fehlt Knopf kann deshalb nicht verstellt werden, Elektrizität sollte auch einen Regenschauer in Costa Rica ohne grössere Probleme überstehen. Frühstück nur Minimum, zweiter Kaffee war schon zuviel.

Nunca lo pasé peor ni vi algo semejante en los años que llevo viajando ni escuché de ningún cliente en mi mismo sector de hostelería.Llegamos agotados deseando de tener nuestro alojamiento y no había Nadie para check in.Nos llovía y mi pareja como era normal estaba agotado de estar muchas horas al volante y se enfadó, buscó un teléfono y no contestaban.Gracias a Dios después de 3 horas de espera y lloviendo llegó un vecino y nos puso en contacto con la empresa,la cual no había revisado las entradas en su computadora y estaban de viaje y no contestaban al móvil de la empresa. Gracias al vecino nos dejó su móvil y telefónicamente hablamos al número privado de la empresa.Nos indicaron donde guardaba la llave y nos dió permiso para cogerla.Supuestamente nos dieron una superior,pero poco importó porque ya era hora de dormir y al día siguiente salíamos temprano. El personal que nos atendió en el desayuno y la Sra de la limpieza nos atendió familiarmente facilitándonos una habitación para guardar las maletas y poder ir a la playa un rato sin llevar el equipaje en el coche.Nos recomendó la playa Ventanas,por cierto...preciosa!!

We enjoyed our two night stay at Hotel El Mono Feliz. The property is absolutely beautiful with trees, flowers, hummingbirds, other birds, a lovely pool & a sweet yoga shala by the river. Accommodations include rooms & cabins. We were in a small room with a comfortable bed, nice sheets, good towels, including pool or beach towels. Breakfast is included & is delicious! Lisa, the hostess during our stay, was super friendly, helpful & had great suggestions as to where to go/where to eat.

A lovely little place nestled in the wonderful town of Ojochal. Beautiful setting, quiet, surrounded by nature and beautiful birds that keep you company while you have some great breakfast by Claire. She is the awesome hostess who always greets you with a bright smile and is eager to accommodate and help with any questions or needs. We loved our adorable bungalow which had enough space and amenities for my husband and I. The place is magically beautiful, clean, friendly and kind staff, and a lovely owner. We stayed for a week and enjoyed every day! Will definitely go back!

So glad I answered the call!

Wow-y wow-y wow, wow. Um, for me, it was exactly what I wanted, needed, and more. It was meditative, deep nature, and then opportunity for adventure. Claire made it feel quickly like home with unbelievable breakfasts with hummingbirds and strangers who are friends. Do not come here if a power outage would ruin your trip. Do not come here if you expect a big room (you don't at all need it.) But if you hear your heart pulling you, listen. You will be so glad you did. I will never be able to express all that I got out of my time at el mono feliz. I left feeling like everyone working there is someone I can't wait to get back and see soon. Also I love walking so I had no problem being carless. And jeez leweez it's such a warm generous peaceful culture. Do plan to drop any White colonial cultural norms when you arrive because what you'll experience will prove to you how much better life can be. La Pura Vida!
